Job Summary
This job assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Department of Emergency Medicine's Physician Quality Improvement Program. Responsible for patient follow-up, collection of data for research studies and risk management activities, and chart review.Accountabilities
Works with Physician QI Director/Residency Program Director/Administrative Director to monitor and maintain department's Quality Improvement program and JCAHO requirement information.
Reviews and screens ED charts according to objective criteria.\u00A0 Identifies those lacking required documentation.\u00A0 Copies information needed for teaching, conferences, studies and research projects according to data required.
Screens lab reports for positive results and reviews chart to ensure appropriate patient treatment.\u00A0 contacts patients needing further treatment or follow-up.
Reviews x-ray reports to identify any discrepancies between preliminary readings and final reports to ensure appropriate patient treatment.\u00A0 Contacts patients needing further treatment.
Gathers and inputs statistical data into data base to prepare quarterly and yearly reports for department meetings.
Monitors, coordinates and provides appropriate feedback on studies performed in the department.\u00A0 Keep files on studies.
Performs other assignments as directed by supervisor.
Two years of college or five years\u2019 experience
Minimum Experience
Medical Records/patient follow-up/Quality Improvement
