Vossloh Rail Services (VRS) Controller duties
VRS is a company that provides railroad milling and grinding services. Since the business operates in many different locations by carrying large machines from location to location, accounting for the company is constantly presenting new challenges.
- Vendor invoice processing: Communicating with vendors to acquire and provide necessary information, adding new vendors in the system, creating ACH payments from the bank, posting payment in the system, and managing AP Aging.
- Intercompany postings and reconciliations: Intercompany loan postings for new and existing loans, management fees, and invoices for internal goods and services.
- Code and post credit card transactions: requires close communication with Director of Operations.
- Customer invoicing: Communicating with vendors to acquire and provide necessary information, book revenue in system, create and send invoices to customers, post receipts in the system, and manage AR Aging.
- Bank reconciliation and cash management: Manually post all bank transactions, prepare monthly reconciliation, prepare cash forecasts upon request.
- Other month-end close duties not already mentioned: Book accruals, execute foreign exchange revaluation, upload final numbers to Cognos reporting system.
- Manage new asset purchases within fixed asset module and run monthly depreciation.
- Work closely with German Colleagues: Prepare financial reports including variance commentary, monthly income statement and requested business details.
- Communicate closely with production personnel on job sites: Stay updated on current projects and unusual transactions, and respond to special requests.
- Maintain vehicle registrations and renewals.
- Work on tax issues from various locations.
- Assist with detailed preparation of yearly budget
- Assist with monthly preparation of 3 month sales and EBIT forecast.
- Assist with audit if in scope.
Vossloh US Holdings (VUSH) Controller duties
VUSH is a holding company for all Vossloh companies within the US
- Book Bank transactions and prepare monthly Bank Reconciliations
- Manage intercompany loans and transactions: Book monthly interest.
- Allocate monthly insurance expenses amongst sister companies through intercompany charges.
- Prepaid reconciliation: Insurance invoices create a prepaid balance which is reduced as sister companies are charged.
- Book monthly guaranteed commission invoice from parent company
- Book monthly intercompany invoices for shared expenses
- Execute foreign exchange revaluation.
- Upload final balances to Cognos reporting system.
- Provide requested documents during audit.
- Prepare yearly budget and monthly forecast to upload to Cognos.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
- Excellent financial acumen with a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Previous experience in public accounting is highly desirable
- Familiarity with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements
- Proficient in double-entry bookkeeping
- Experience with regulatory reporting
- Ability to write clear and concise financial reports
- Knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
- Solid understanding of corporate accounting functions
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
