Job Description ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, assisted living, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice care, home health care and rehabilitation therapy.

**Job Summary**

Responsible to provide assistance and support internal attorneys and and outside legal counsel in connection with matters related to the retrieval, collection, review, production, and management of medical and business records, under the direct supervision of an attorney, including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below.

**Responsibilities**

Responsibilities of the Medical Records Support Specialist position include some or all of the following:

* Performs and coordinates retrieval, collection, review, and production of paper and electronic medical and business records in response to requests from internal and external sources.

* Maintains confidentiality of patient and company information as required by applicable law, regulation, and company police and practice.

* Participates in records management systems and processes.

* Participates in quality assessment and performance improvement systems and processes.

* Maintains database of produced records.

* Prepares statistical and data reports as needed.

* Maintains relevant calendar systems.

* Provides testimony related to the process for production of medical and business records as needed.

* Prioritizes work to accommodate time-sensitive due dates.

* Assists with records searches in any designated office or facility.

* Provides back-up to other employees as needed.

* Attends and participates in scheduled in-service programs and staff meetings.

* Utilizes supplies and equipment properly and without waste.

* Thinks and acts calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job.

* Performs other work assignments as may be required.

Job Requirements

* High School diploma required.

* Associates Degree in Health Records Management or completion of a Bachelor's degree program in health information management, nursing, or related field preferred.

* Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Health Information Technician or licensed practical nurse or registered nurse preferred.

* Minimum six month experience as Medical Records Technician, Coder, Medical Transcriptionist, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Medical Office Secretary or related experience

* Physical demands are primarily light in nature with lifting less than ten pounds; sitting, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

* Travel: Occasional

* Working Conditions: Primarily inside well-lighted, well-ventilated areas.

* Principal Contacts: Legal staff and staff in company business units.

* General Requirements: Must be capable of executing all terms and conditions set forth in the HCR Manor Care Employee Handbook, including, but not limited to:

Works in a safety conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace

Complies with company policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations

Adheres to policy on Drug Free Workplace

Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code
