Job Summary : The Service Technician Mechanic will be a part of the Holland Bus Company Service Department and be responsible for prepping new and used school and commercial buss for our customers to take delivery of. The Service Technician will also be involved in servicing our customer owned buss. The work will be performed at one location in Holland Michigan. Job consists of but not limited to performing maintenance and repair of all types of School and Commercial buss, and complex equipment related to the bus industry.

Reports to : Service Manager

Responsibilities and Duties :

Repair and maintain the specialized equipment found in School and Commercial buss, and the add on equipment.

Install camera systems, 2-way radios, and other electronic, components.

Trace and identify wiring, diagnose as needed.

Install and diagnose various School, Commercial bus interior/exterior components including 12v and 110v wiring, vehicle electronics, electrical harnesses, cables, switch panels, circuit boards, lights, trim, door handles, engine, transmission, and other vehicle systems.

Inspects, checks, and evaluates School, and commercial Bus and equipment for common maintenance problems, monitors fluid levels, replaces components according to industry standards, regulations, and protocols.

Determines and makes major improvements or modifications to new or used school or commercial buss in accordance to customer needs but staying within manufactures specifications; modifies, designs and fabricates special purpose equipment.

Participates in ordering parts and maintaining positive relationships with parts department.

Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of work area and company equipment supplied for use.

Other duties may be assigned based on needs of the company and workload.

Qualifications/Skills:

Required:

Must be a team player, enthusiastic, with a positive outlook and attitude.

Must have valid drivers license, pass background check, pass standard drug test and DOT physical.

Must obtain CDL within the probationary period.

Two years of experience with mechanical repair and maintenance of at least 2 of the following areas:

Heavy Equipment (Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit, International diesel engines)

Medium-Heavy trucks

Automotive diesel

Automotive air conditioning

Over the road trucks

Emergency vehicle repair

One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education

Must own tools needed to perform essential responsibilities and duties described above.

Familiar with use of PC based computer including Microsoft Office Suite.

Focus on completing work with emphasis on quality workmanship.

Detailed oriented and organized under minimal supervision.

Preferred:

Michigan or ASE certification(s)

College degree or vocational certificate in the automotive industry
