OPEN UNTIL FILLED Under general direction, the Licensed Electrician maintains, repairs, and provides general care for all electrical systems, circuits, and components. Installs, maintains, and repairs fixtures and devices.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions:Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs all electrical systems, equipment, components, and fixtures within the City municipal buildings, facilities, parks, sports complexes, water treatment facilities, wastewater management facilities, and common areas; ensures functionality and operation for public usage.
- Performs installation, modification, and repair of electrical circuits; repairs and replaces receptacles and lighting in office spaces, sewage and water treatment facilities, garages, exterior of buildings, parks, marinas, and bridges.
- Identifies underground and overhead wiring issues; repairs and replaces components and ensures safety and professionalism in repair work.
- Repairs and replaces disconnects and panels for air conditioning systems in office spaces, sewage and water treatment facilities, garages, outside of buildings, parks, marinas, and bridges.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and designs; determines necessary work to be done and establishes a timeline for completion; prioritizes emergent electrical issues and ensures all work is completed or assigned.
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces runway lights and associated equipment; identifies issues in office space motors, facilities, garages, parks, etc., and performs repair and replacement.
- Keeps, maintains, and drafts records and files on work in process and work completed; provides detailed information on electrical work and tasks still in process.
- Works, engages, and communicates with other contractors performing general and specialized work throughout the city; assists and supports other contractors in maintenance and electrical repair; procures equipment and materials to complete jobs.
- Sets up lighting and equipment for events and sports tournaments; applies all safety precautions and fulfills lighting and electrical needs for requested events and venues.
- Provides training and education for new staff engaged in electrical maintenance and repair.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Licenses , Certifications , and Equipment : A valid State driver's license is required.
Journeyman Electrician's Certificate issued by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board is required.
This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides: Electrical meters such as: amp meters, meggars, ohmmeters, voltmeters and other related electrical meters, chop saw, drill motors, hammer drills, shovel, pick, hand wrenches, crane truck, portable lift station and fork lift, computer, and other equipment as assigned.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND one (1) year of vocational training PLUS five (5) years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
