Position Summary:
The IT Systems Administrator serves as an administrative and support resource for
POLYWOOD's various components of information technology server and infrastructure
technologies. These include Windows and Linux server systems, DHCP, DNS, Certificate
Management, Active Directory, clustering and high availability of server technologies, and
support of other technological systems as assigned. The ITSA is responsible for leading in the
implementation and administration of Microsoft Server technologies and business applications
running on them, but also working with End User Computing in the support of end user
computing systems. The ITSA must partner to manage and monitor end user computing
technologies to ensure that industry best practices are implemented and followed. Additionally,
the ITSA is responsible for analyzing and monitoring the evolving security landscape of the
Microsoft Server landscape, working with department leadership to implement countermeasures
as necessary. The ITSA is also a leading voice for Azure Active Directory administration and
processes, as well as the Identify & Access Management ideologies and technologies as they
pertain to Azure Active Directory.
The ITSA reports directly to the Director of IT, and is responsible for advising the
department leadership on Microsoft Server technologies and services, and assisting in
identifying and prioritizing initiatives. This position requires building SOPs and counseling peers
in the execution of SOPs and best practices of administering Microsoft server technologies. As
needed, the ITIA will need to assist peers in day to day service of the network, server
infrastructure, endpoint computing technologies, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 business
applications to ensure internal customer needs are met in a timely fashion. Administration of
infrastructure systems and working with peers to ensure maximum infrastructure performance to
internal customers is a primary day to day duty.
As needed, the ITSA must work closely with the Systems Administration team in
managing IT infrastructure environment to ensure maximum uptime and performance of both
infrastructure and business application services. Partnership with DevOps team in
administering cloud infrastructure will be a routine expectation. Assist in management of vendor
and partner relationships for the purpose of systems support and administration. The ITSA must
work well within team environments as well with organizational leadership to drive innovation
forward and ensure maximum ROI of new and existing IT systems.
The IT Infrastructure Administrator must be self driven, focused, and goal oriented in the
successful execution of projects and day to day responsibilities. Critical thinking under pressure
and advanced troubleshooting is a component of day to day workload, and proven history of
these skill sets are necessary.
Knowledge of IT Infrastructure concepts, topologies and protocols such as TCP/IP,
DHCP, DNS, DFS, SMB, Active Directory, Multicasting, etc. with 3 years of progressive
responsibility in managing, deploying, and designing information technology infrastructure such
as but not limited to, Microsoft Server, Linux Distros, Layer 2 Switching, High
Availability/clustering, and Active Directory recovery environments. 8 years of experience
working within enterprise IT is required. Understanding of scripting languages such as
PowerShell, Bash, and Python, is preferred. Must have proven experience in securing,
monitoring, capacity planning, and implementing server operating systems, and their underling
storage and networking.
The applicant must show excellent emotional maturity and enjoy working in teams, with
the ability to maintain healthy relationships with peers and leadership. Must be willing to
occasionally work off hours during maintenance windows, as well as occasionally share the
responsibility of providing high availability to 2nd/3rd shift associates if service outages occur.
This is a fully remote position with occasional visits to the Syracuse Indiana campus as
necessary.
