 PURPOSE: 

  • Launch programs at quality, on time and at budget. 
  • Responsible for the program plan development, execution, financial performance, and successful transfer of New Product Launches (NPL) from inception to full production. 
  • Provide leadership and direction of cross functional/technical team (CFLT) members and management of program costs, quality objectives and timelines to ensure that quoted standards and internal/external customer goals are met. This position will be responsible for managing several program launches concurrently

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Take ownership of and accountability for each program and its successful outcome and develop and publish a program timeline with milestones. 
  • Develop and drive improvements to the PMC SMART Launch Process to ensure PMC meets the goals of the Company and our customers. 
  • Maintain compliance with the procedure and checklists for all programs at each compliance point. 
  • Function as PMC's primary customer communications leader for all non-commercial aspects of each program. 
  • Proactively initiate regular contact with the customer to ensure complete understanding of the customer requirements and to update the customer on the status of the program. Ensure that there are no "surprises" for either the customer or PMC during the program launch activities. 
  • Lead the resolution of all non-commercial issues that arise with the program. 
  • Regularly confirm customer's requirements with the program's PCM Cross Functional launch Team (CFLT) members. 
  • Confirm the scope of the program with the customer before or at the time of program kick-off. Develop a Statement of Work (SOW) with the customer that is in alignment with PMC's quoted program costs. 
  • Coordinate the activities of the CFLT members. Ensure regular, effective communications in the team. 
  • Manage scope creep in the program and ensure that program costs adhere to the program budget. If customer requires additional work outside of the SOW, cooperate with the PMC Sales Account Manager to quote the cost of the additional work.
  • Plan program resources and ensure proper support is given to the program teams.
  •  Schedule and lead regular program timeline meetings to ensure the program stays on schedule and on cost. In the event program progress is not meeting expectations, immediately develop and drive recovery plan/corrective action to bring the program back on track. 
  • Coordinate and lead technical problem-solving meetings as needed. 
  • Accompany the Sales Account Manager to customer meetings as needed to provide technical and program status support. 
  • Ensure that all program work follows PMC's program management processes and documentation requirements (the PMC "SMART Launch" Process). 
  • Review and approve all documents before their submission to the customer. 
  • Actively participate in and support the implementation and maintenance of the Company's documented Quality Management System as appropriate. 
  • Actively participate in the creation of PMC's Intellectual Property in all forms, including but not limited to trade secrets and patent applications, and ensure the protection of PMC's and its customers' Intellectual Property and Confidential information.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary that contribute to the overall efficiency of the Company.

Requirements

  • Successful track record in launching medical device programs with a preference for injection molded and related components, including a full supply chain deployment. 
  • Demonstrated record of taking personal ownership of and accountability for programs or similar development activities such as project engineering is required. 
  • Ability to drive internal communications with people who do not report into the position.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of communication with external stakeholder and customers, and act in a proactive manner in these relationships.
  • Appropriate technical knowledge in the processes, materials, and application of the program SKUs. Ability to read drawings and understand appropriate levels of metrology and GD&T. 
  • Ability to track and control the costs and revenue associated with the program from start to finish.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with majors in mechanical, industrial, tooling, manufacturing, or plastics technology engineering strongly preferred. 
  • Moderate level of capability in using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and similar software is required. Experience with MS Project.
  • Overnight travel, about 10% to 15% of time, with some occasional international travel is required.
