Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Medical Director, the Psychiatrist I plays a crucial role in providing psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to the out-patient population of the Company. This position involves conducting psychiatric examinations and evaluations, making diagnoses, prescribing therapy, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. The Psychiatrist I is responsible for maintaining medical records, preparing reports, and contributing to the establishment of psychiatric programs and policies.
Job Duties:
1. Provide psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients.
2. Conduct psychiatric examinations and evaluations.
3. Make diagnoses and prescribe therapy.
4. Conduct individual and group psychotherapy sessions.
5. Consult with psychologists, social workers, and other community agency professionals regarding psychiatric aspects of their work.
6. Confer with patients' relatives about illness and treatment.
7. Maintain accurate medical records and prepare reports.
8. Assist in establishing psychiatric programs and policies.
9. Fulfill other duties as required by funding agencies or established by National Health Services, Inc., Management, and Board of Directors.
- (a) Must become familiar with Federal and State rules, regulations, and practices in a Community Health Center.
- (b) Become familiar with Federal and State Healthcare program requirements and assist in their implementation.
- (c) Assist in developing the health care plan, review program requirements, and recommend changes as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
10. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Medical Director.
11. Ability to relate to the public regardless of ethnic, religious, and economic status.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
1. Graduate from an accredited medical school.
2. Must have a valid California Practice License and DEA license.
3. Satisfactory completion of a four-year residency training program in Psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
4. Interest in designing and evaluating an efficient psychiatric care system in a community health center highly desirable.
