Description

Under supervision of the Production Manager, the Artist/Craftsperson assists with Elements production and shipping of replica trees, plants, preserved moss, natural art and Museum series trees. This position is cross-trained in multiple roles across the creative department, able to assist with holiday decorating and prop refurbishment when needed and in multiple locations. ? 

The Artist Craftsperson possesses moderate carpentry and artistic craftsperson skills and has the desire to learn the processes of creating Elements products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by complying with company and industry safety standards.
• Adheres to production process, production standards, and production schedule.
• Produces and fabricates artificial plants and trees, moss walls, and other natural products from raw materials.
• Tracks and records use of materials and updates inventory. Performs administrative functions of keeping proper paperwork, project notes and inventory. 
• Prepares products for LTL/FTL shipments; builds custom crates and other packages. Loads and unloads products with the assistance of other Creative Department team members.
• Photographs and documents production methods as directed by Production Manager. 
• Maintains equipment. Operates equipment such as forklift and lifts to move and create product.
• Cleans and organizes warehouse daily. 
• Assists Creative Department team members with creation of holiday structures, decoration of large holiday jobs and production at Braddock Holiday Warehouse as assigned. 
• Travels to client sites for installation or maintenance of products. 

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2 years related experience or training.
• Basic to moderate carpentry skills, and artistic craftsperson skills. 
• Proficiency using table saws and chop saws (required)
• Experience with a variety of woodworking tools, hand tools, air tools (required)
• Ability to consistently and frequently lift and move at least 100 pounds and occasionally lift and move weight up to 150 pounds. 
• Detail oriented; able to replicate existing designs 
• Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Reliable transportation and availability to work shifts as scheduled, often 6 am-2:30 pm; will work occasional overtime including peak season (expected to be October, November, January). Approximately 70% of time will be spent at Holiday Warehouse in Braddock, PA and 30% of time in Strip District headquarters in Pittsburgh.

Physical Requirements 

Sufficient manual dexterity to perform job functions using hand and power tools. This position requires almost constant standing. This position frequently moves about the warehouse and regularly moves through tight spaces. This position regularly ascends and descends ladders and occasionally operates a forklift. This position frequently lifts and moves up to 100 pounds and occasionally lifts and moves weight up to 150 pounds. Must be able to lift and move sheets of lumber and place them on a table for use of the table saw. This position requires color vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computer, printers, and scanners. 

Work Environment 

This job requires employee to work regularly in varying workshop conditions. This position is constantly exposed to common allergens such as dust. This position will be exposed to extreme cold or extreme heat. The work environment may include occasional loud noise.

• Minimum 1 year related display design and creative experience or training required. 
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Skills in artistry and design required; knowledge of products, product placement, product handling, and concepts of good design desired
• Reliable transportation and availability to work shifts as scheduled, often 6 am-2:30 pm; will work occasional overtime including peak season (expected to be October, November, January). Approximately 70% of time will be spent at Holiday Warehouse in Braddock, PA and 30% of time in Strip District headquarters in Pittsburgh.
