JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for organizing and administering the Department of Clinical services at the hospital and implementing standards of care, policies, programs, and procedures as established by the company. Responsibilities of the CNO include ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation, ensuring all clinical regulatory requirements are being met, and responsibilities for employee engagement, recruitment and retention.
REQUIREMENTS
JOB –SPECIFIC DUTIES/COMPETENCIES
Upholds ANA Code of Ethics.
Ensures that the patient care services provided and the role of nursing is appropriate to the scope and level of care required by the patients served. Complies with Pioneer Specialty Hospital, state and federal laws.
Responsible for the provision of nursing, respiratory, rehabilitations services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Collaborates with the Quality Risk Manager in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising and monitoring hospital wide performance improvement activities.
Provides leadership, support and participation in hospital QAPI meetings.
Plans and recommends to the Chief Executive Office (CEO) new equipment or modification thereto needed to provide patient care and services.
Serves as a member of professional staff committees in matters pertaining to all areas of patient care.
Participates in the Medical Executive, Governing Board and Medical staff department meetings.
Provides continuous oversight of quality improvement programs in an effort to safely deliver the highest quality of customer service.
Implements and monitors bedside report and hand-off communication standards.
Implements and monitors wound program initiatives.
Implements and monitors fall reduction initiatives.
Meets regulatory requirements for nursing documentation.
Follows and enforces Human Resources policies. Consults with Human Resources as needed.
Cooperates in the formulation of new policies and practices established by the CEO; defines and interprets these to the Nursing Department.
Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Promotes hospital standards of care, policies and procedures.
Mentors care team members in the areas of conflict resolution, problem- solving, and customer relations.
Maintains staff accountability for clinical and customer service standards at all times. Addresses non-compliance with policy, procedure, and standards of practice and behavior with staff in a respectful and professional manner when non-compliance is observed.
Conducts staff meetings to maintain open communication with nursing staff.
Develops Clinical Lead RNs into a clinically and administratively effective team.
Plans with Medical Staff and Department heads for coordination of services and activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
