POSITION PAY RANGE:  $10.00 - 14.00, Hourly

TARGET HIRING RANGE: Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding.

SUMMARY:

The customer service representative will serve as a sales clerk and visitor service associate at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. The position involves selling tickets, selling merchandise and providing visitors with information regarding the Museum and surrounding locale. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the Universities Mission, Vision, and Cultural Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The employee is responsible for performing cash out and other clerical duties associated with the operation of a museum store including ticket sales, waiting on customers, maintaining inventory and other associated clerical duties.
2. Receives payment for admission to the Museum and for the sale of a variety of museum store items.
3. Unpacks merchandise and performs receiving functions which include merchandise review and verification.
4. Creates and maintains merchandise displays.
5. Provides inventory assistance such as restocking shelves and maintaining organization of current inventory items. Assists with yearly physical merchandise inventory.
6. Packages and ships merchandize utilizing an automated postal system.
7. Answers visitors' basic questions about the Museum, the Ford family, and the local area.
8. Answers incoming telephone calls; e-mails, transfers calls, or records messages as required to ensure appropriate communication.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be eligible for federal work study.
• Must be enrolled half time at Davenport University (6 credits as an undergraduate/3 credits as a graduate)
• Ability to retain and recall a variety of facts and figures pertaining to the museum and the life and career of Gerald R. Ford.
• Ability to operate computer using electronic ticketing and POS software.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Must be available to work irregular schedule possibly nights or weekends.
