STARTING SALARY: $23.79 to $30.58
(Initial salary placement is based on related experience)

American Sign Language applicant will be paid a monthly stipend of $96. This stipend will be pro-rated for positions that are less tan 40 hours per week."

Job Title: Cafeteria Manager

SUMMARY
Under direction, to have responsible charge of a school cafeteria; to prepare, cook, and serve meals; and to do job-related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Plans, assigns, supervises, and performs work in the preparation and serving of hot lunches to pupils and teachers; works from weekly prepared menu, requisitions foodstuffs, prepares salads and sandwiches; operates a computer utilizing State school food services software ; carves meat and dishes up food; coordinates and personally performs cleaning of kitchen, kitchen equipment, and eating utensils; receives, balances, and records cash; checks bills on foodstuffs; opens and closes cafeteria; makes oral and written reports; outlines daily duties and work schedules of kitchen staff; assists in arranging proper storage of food and supplies; sets standards of efficiency and sanitation in food preparation; assists and instructs new personnel in methods and procedures of tasks assigned; works with custodial and maintenance staffs in maintenance and operation of the kitchen and equipment. Cafeteria managers may submit menus for the approval of the Supervisor of Food Services. Works with, instructs, and coordinates a staff of Cafeteria Assistants.

QUALIFICATIONS

The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals® certification test must be passed within three months of employment. This test must be retaken and passed every five years or as required.

Knowledge of proper methods of preparing, cooking, and serving foods in large quantities; principles and techniques involved in managing a cafeteria; and daily menu worksheets.
Knowledge of a variety of school food services software. Ability to prepare food suited to the needs of children; requisition food and maintain monthly inventory; operate common mechanical appliances found in a cafeteria; account for all monies received and deposited and maintain all records; follow oral and written directions; maintain staff mandated daily worksheets; instruct and assist new personnel in performance of all duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least two years of paid experience in the preparation and serving of food in a cafeteria or restaurant serving at least one hundred persons daily.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to follow oral and written directions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as bookkeeping, fractions, and basic mathematical applications to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to choose among a number of alternatives in solving routine problems.
