Pennsylvania College of Technology is Hiring a Temporary Custodian/Floater, First Shift Near Williamsport, PA

Overview:

This is a temporary fill-in position for an employee on leave. This position will be responsible for Performing College office and equipment moves. This position will be responsible for performing set ups and tear downs for college events at any given time as instructed by the Facilities Supervisor. Additionally, this person will perform other job functions in support of the General Services area such as general housekeeping duties and duties as a custodian. This position will be required to work during delays and snow closure days that may fall on scheduled workdays. This position will be required to work overtime on short notice to include evenings, weekends, special events and call ins at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor. This position may be required to work in different buildings/locations to accommodate needs of work unit. Some overtime with little or no prior notice will be required. Qualifications:

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience operating: pickup truck and van. Required
  • Experience operating Skid Loader. and forklift. Preferred
  • Experience as a custodian. Required
  • Experience operation mechanical lifts. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructions. Required
  • Possession of valid driver's license. Required
  • Ability to safely operate: pickup truck and van (standard shift and automatic). Required
  • Ability to work from heights. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with faculty, staff, students and the public. Required
  • Must have training and/or certification in forklift operation or become trained/certified prior to performing forklift responsibilities. Required
  • Ability to operate forklift, skid loader and mechanical lift. Preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Dispose of trash.
  • Sweep, dust mop, and wet mop areas.
  • Provide complete floor care service which includes stripping, refinishing, high speed buffing, spray buffing, cleaning baseboards, etc.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas.
  • Clean fountains, ashtrays, and blackboards.
  • Dust and/or wash areas requiring same.
  • Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
  • Wash windows and door glass.
  • Sweep stairs and stairwells and wash same.
  • Wash walls, woodwork, furnishings; remove graffiti.
  • Replace light bulbs and tubes; clean light fixtures.
  • Submit supply and repair requisitions to supervisor.
  • Keep housekeeping equipment clean and perform minor repairs on same.
  • When leaving building, responsible for seeing that building is properly secured. Deliver custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Deliver and pick up equipment for repairs.
  • Haul masonry waste, steel, and donations to and from required locations either manually or with equipment.
  • Relocate offices, shop furnishings, and equipment.
  • Operate pickup truck and van, as needed.
  • Assist with ice and snow removal, general motorpool operations, and ground care as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties.
  • Respond to any accidental spillage, leakage or breakage, including vomit, blood, oil, chemicals, etc.
  • Remove and dispose of instructional materials as necessary.
  • Perform College office and area moves and relocations, equipment relocations, etc.
  • Setting up and/or tearing down at special College events.
  • Assist supervisor with maintaining the fire extinguisher inventory.
  • Assist the supervisor with maintaining the inventory of campus recycling supplies and containers.
  • Maintain College auction/storage areas in neat and orderly condition.
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features:
    Exposure to dust and harsh chemicals in performing duties. Lifting of 65 lbs. maximum without assistance with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs. May require travel between buildings during shift. May require climbing or working from ladders and scaffolding.
    Pay Transparency:
    $15.29 per hour.
