JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Licensing and Regulatory Services, provides legal support to in-house counsel, home health, hospice, home care, and senior living operations as part of a dynamic in-house legal department. Among other functions, the position will assist in the drafting, proofing and finalizing of health care licensing applications, Medicare and Medicaid provider applications, and various other legal documents, and will be responsible for designing and improving processes and procedures to ensure consistent performance of complex and routine tasks. Through the successful performance of the position’s essential functions, the individual selected for this position will have a direct impact on the legal department’s successful delivery of outstanding legal services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and file a variety of state and federal licensing and certification forms, including Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment/change of ownership forms. Work with city, state, and federal agencies/agents to help drive timely processing of licensing and certification applications. Act as an internal resource for questions regarding licensing and regulatory issues. Work both independently and within a team on nonrecurring as well as ongoing projects. Research both federal and state specific rules and regulations as needed Effectively utilize computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Smartsheet). Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. QUALIFICATIONS Associates degree from an accredited college/university. Minimum of one year paralegal/legal assistant experience, preferably in healthcare environment or experience in Medicare or Medicaid provider enrollment or private payer enrollment/credentialing. Prior licensing experience is welcome, but not required. Strong organizational/communication/analytical skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic, proactive, self-motivated, dependable, and driven by excellence. Able to establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships.
