**Summary**

The Student Stewards Program (SSP) Outreach Coordinator VISTA will focus on community outreach and marketing of the health benefits associated with the Parks Foundations youth educational programs and events including the Student Stewards Program and Junior Naturalist Program (JNats).

** Position Des cription**

The SSP Outreach Coordinator VISTA will be an essential member of the team for this young non-profit organization. This VISTA will help develop a wellness-focused marketing and outreach plan for TMPFs youth educational programs and events including the Student Stewards and Junior Naturalist Programs. This person will enhance the advertising and outreach strategies used to promote and expand the wellness education and recreation initiatives of SSP, JNats, and Spring and Summer Camps via social media, traditional media, and streamlined website design.

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is a private nonprofit that was incorporated in 2012 and received its 501(c)(3) determination in 2013. The Parks Foundation protects and enhances our communities' livability through public engagement, education, and the sustainability of our parks, open spaces, and trails. Current programs focus on improving community health and wellness and developing peoples appreciation for the natural and cultural history found in local parks. A special emphasis is placed on increasing access to free programming for low income community members in order to improve education and health outcomes for people living in poverty.

**AmeriCorps VISTA** Truckee Meadows Parks Foundations SSP Outreach Coordinator VISTA is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and will serve within the AmeriCorps VISTA program. AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Each VISTA member makes a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. To learn more about AmeriCorps programs, visit .

**Timeline for Service:** July 19, 2021 July 18, 2022

**Primary Responsibilities**

* Build a wellness-focused marketing and outreach plan for outdoor recreation and science-based youth programs including: Student Stewards Program (SSP), Junior Naturalists (JNats), GET Outdoors App Challenge, SSP Spring Break Camp, and SSP Summer Camp;

* Develop best outreach practices via email newsletter, press release, social media marketing, advertising, video production and more for outdoor wellness and recreation programming;

* Design and publish social media content to promote and share impacts of Parks Foundation youth programming. Share live updates from programs through various social media channels to increase awareness of outdoor wellness programming and drive participation.

* Update and maintain the Parks Foundation youth program website pages with essential programming information and updates while accommodating accessibility, readability, and youth program branding.

* Manage inquiries from youth program families and participants while facilitating a positive experience from registration to program completion.

* Develop and implement advertising campaigns on Facebook and Google Ads while analyzing engagement metrics and executing improved content strategies.

* Foster community partnerships with local schools, businesses, and organizations to increase expansion of awareness, enrollment, and participation in all youth wellness programs;

* Encourage awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of local parks and open spaces through Parks Foundation programming and relationship-building through community outreach.

**Qualifications**

* Commitment to the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation mission and vision;

* Bachelors degree and/or experience in marketing, public relations, and/or communications;

* Experience with social media marketing, Canva, PicMonkey, Adobe Creative Cloud and/or WIX website design and blogs;

* Exceptional writing skills;

* Strong verbal communication skills;

* Strong organizational skills while managing multiple projects;

* High degree of initiative and spirit of service;

* Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve creatively;

* Preferred: Reading, writing, and speaking competency in Spanish language;

* Preferred: Experience in Google Data Studio, Google Analytics, Google Ads

**Compensation and Benefits**

* In return for their service, AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a living allowance of approximately $13,400.

* Upon completion of service, choice of Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of approximately $6,000 or post-service stipend of $1,800.

* A relocation settling-in allowance of no less than $750 if you are moving more than 50 miles, and travel allowance based on mileage may also apply.

* Health benefits during service.

* Child care assistance (if applicable).

* Qualified student loan deferment or forbearance.

* Non-competitive eligibility for qualified government jobs the first year after completing service.

* Professional development through monthly training, skills learned in service, and experience in a nonprofit environment.
