BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for proper transaction posting and account handling in addition to accurate receipt and disbursement of money to and from members. Responsible for furnishing information to the members about the credit union and its products and services.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Processes various transactions at the member service representative window including, posting withdrawals, loan payments, deposits, line of credit advances, etc.
Creates memorable member experience through exceptional member interactions which include enthusiastic greeting and closing phrases.
Ensures members' accounts are credited and debited properly.
Understands and negotiates checks, with a full understanding of placement of check holds in order to mitigate check fraud and losses.
Completes cashier's checks and cash advances following OFAC and MI Log procedures.
Completes CTR/SAR when applicable and appropriate.
Balances cash drawer at the end of the day.
Reaches out to proper departments when dealing with ticklers, lockouts, and warnings on accounts in order to clear any pending items, prior to rendering services to members as applicable.
Promotes efficiency by spending no more than three minutes with each member as the situation allows.
Cross-sells credit union services with special emphasis on promotional, new services, and self-service remote access channels.
Acquires knowledge of audit items/questions to include security procedures in order to comply with Credit Union security and safety procedures. This includes participating in branch audit periodically.
Performs clerical duties, including but not limited to scanning check batch deposit when needed with gained experience.
Assists Member Service Supervisors with the balancing of vault, TCD, and other duties as assigned with gained experience.
Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU's established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
Availability requirements: Monday - Friday: 7:00 am-1:00 pm or 1:00 pm-7:00 pm Saturday: 8:00 am- 1:00 pm
Requirements
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent member service skills. Must be outgoing and quick to respond to meet members' needs within credit union policies and the ability to deal with upset members with even temperament using tact and diplomacy.
Knowledge of cash accounting procedures.
Acquire extensive knowledge of credit union policies, products and services, with emphasis on special promotions and new services. Ability to answer member questions and make decisions outside of guidelines.
Awareness of security procedures when dealing with cash, keys, and other areas of GECU.
Basic skills such as typing, use of calculators or adding machines, obtaining a status and posting on computer terminals.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and good organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure.
High School diploma or equivalent with six (6) months of similar or related experience. Cash handling experience preferred.
Requires sitting and standing the majority of the day, lifting up to 10 pounds, twisting and reaching above and below shoulder level continuously, lifting up to 20 pounds frequently, lifting more than 50 pounds, bending, squatting, climbing and kneeling occasionally.
