About the Position:

Pathway Partners LLC is seeking a Physical Science Technician to support a potential customer, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Physical Science Technicians support laboratory operations and Chemists in federal accredited crime laboratories specializing in the forensic analysis of seized drugs.

Position Description:
The Physical Science Technician will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Plans and carries out conventional testing and analysis projects, including chemical analysis/testing, data validation and reduction, and reporting. Adapts or customizes standard methods. Applies the principles, procedures, requirements, and work techniques of the full range of advanced testing methods, operations, instrumentation, and practices.
  • Monitors the stockpiles of laboratory glassware and pre-soaks, cleans, and re-stocks analytical glassware for the laboratory. Prepares laboratory reagents and performs reliability testing. Prepares chemical solutions for use in quantitative analyses. Performs calibration checks on analytical balances using proper handling and weighing techniques.
  • Maintains awareness of critical analysis and evaluations of project objectives, past practices, source materials, alternatives among available work processes, and recognition of the intended use of completed work. Maintains a significant or area of responsibility on an ongoing basis (e.g., ensures proper day-to-day operation of an isolated field site or other comparable subdivision of a first level unit or a significant multi-phase project or a discrete and ongoing technical function in a first level unit).
  • Compiles data from multiple sources and analyzes results of field data, laboratory data, and/or literature search.
  • Recognizes and resolves deviations in data. Generates, assembles, and edits data through various test platforms, interpreting a variety of computer or instrument generated data; using complex chemical analyses; or refining and applying algebraic, geometric, trigonometric, or statistical algorithms or models. Organizes information and interprets results. Selects appropriate instrumentation to obtain valid results based on field conditions and instrument responses during their operation.
  • Determines what needs to be done by assessing unusual circumstances, variations in approach, and incomplete or conflicting data. Performs routine laboratory instrument maintenance and performance checks.

Minimum Experience Level:

  • Education: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics.

Or

  • Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

Desired Experience and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree
  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Performing work with highest levels of integrity
  • Previous experience in ISO-accredited analytical laboratory
  • Understanding and following policies and procedures
  • Experience with mock trials

Security Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance

Salary Range

  • $74K-$79K

Hours

  • 40 hours/week
  • Monday-Friday
  • Work Hours between 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
