JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CREW LEADER - FACILITIES (INMATE CREW)!Direct supervision of a Pasco County trustee inmate work crew, to assign, direct, train, and supervise custodial, grounds, and/or maintenance programs within the Pasco County Detention Center.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Functions as a lead worker and assists in the supervision of inmate work crews. Instructs inmates in the proper use of equipment and chemicals. Maintains records and prepares reports. Performs semiskilled manual labor in connection with general upkeep and cleanliness of the Pasco County Detention Center facility. Duties include the use of vacuum cleaners, buffer machines, pressure washers, painting equipment and chemicals such as cleaners, sanitizers, and insecticides in the performance of assigned work. Performs routine tasks and checks on a regular basis. These duties include maintaining inventory on supplies, supervises minor, semiskilled repairs on buildings and equipment. Notifies Facilities Maintenance Supervisor of any problems which may require skilled repairs beyond the scope of the Crew Leader. Performs and leads inmate work crews in custodial duties, including waxing and buffing floors, steam cleaning carpets, moving furniture and, monitoring contractors, running errands, and delivering messages and packages. Operates assigned motor vehicle. Assists in grounds crew supervision and duties when needed.Grounds: Functions as a lead worker and assists in the supervision of work crew inmates. Instructs inmates in the proper use of equipment and chemicals. Maintains records and prepares reports. Supervises labor in connection with the general maintenance and upkeep of the grounds surrounding the Detention Center. Duties include the operation of motor vehicles, various light-to-medium-sized mechanical equipment, and chemicals in the performance of assigned work. Assists in the landscaping of County grounds when required. Duties include cleaning, mowing, edging, trimming, and generally maintains grounds as directed. Transports and rearranges County property as directed. Supervises and assists in the layout and painting of parking lot markings. These markings include parking spaces, directional arrows, handicap, and no parking zones. Assists in custodial supervision and duties when necessary. Performs related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Custodial: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb, and walk frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to perform work outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.Grounds: Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb, and walk frequently. Work location is the Land O' Lakes Correctional Facility. *Must be able to pass a level II background check as required by FDLE.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Custodial: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years experience in custodial or maintenance work. Supervisory experience preferred.Grounds: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years of experience in general labor, construction, or maintenance work.
