Pasco County Schools is Hiring an Instructional Assistant, Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) 2024-2025 Near Land O' Lakes, FL

Location: Student Support Programs & Services, District Complex - School Visits As Assigned
3 Positions
Job SummaryResponsible for assisting teacher(s) in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning educational environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources, under the direct supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher.
Education, Training & Experience
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field
  • OR
  • 60 semester hours of college/university level course work from an accredited institution
  • OR
  • Obtain qualifying score to pass the ParaPro Assessment
  • All employees must satisfactorily complete any required trainings
  • All employees must meet all mandated federal and state health requirements
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONSSatisfactory completion required within 6-month period of the following training and/or certification provided by the District:
  • Pediatric First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • First Aid
  • Medication administration
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
  • In addition, CPR and First Aid training must be completed every two years and CPI training needs to be kept current and renewed on a regular basis.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to communicate using sign language for those working with students who are deaf/hard of hearing
