Summary:

At PaperWorks, we are in pursuit of being recognized as a Great Place to Work. To get there, we need a motivated and organized Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join the team in our Baldwinsville, NY folding carton plant. Our EHS Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering our culture of safety and ensuring that environmental health and safety standards are consistently met. In this role, you will be required to train team members on safety policies and practices, conduct regular safety site surveys, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are adhered to in the facility. To be successful, you should demonstrate a detailed knowledge of health and safety regulations and strong leadership skills. In addition, a top-notch EHS Coordinator should possess excellent communication and training skills and have an acute eye for detail.

Base Salary

$55,000/yr - $70,000/yr

Exact compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

How you will impact PaperWorks:

Safety Inspections, Risk Assessment & Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility to identify and correct potential hazards. Work with relevant departments to address and resolve safety issues.
  • Identify and assess potential hazards in the facility. Conduct regular risk assessments to determine the effectiveness of safety measures.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain records of incidents and prepare reports for management.
  • Identify opportunities for improving safety procedures and protocols. Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives in the EHS program.

Training, Education & Communication

  • Conduct safety training programs for team members on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, and facility safety. Provide ongoing education to ensure team members are aware of safety procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with management, team members, and relevant stakeholders about safety performance and initiatives.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings to discuss safety concerns and initiatives. Involve team members in the safety process and encourage their participation.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans. Conduct drills and exercises to ensure team members are prepared for emergencies.

Regulatory Compliance & Policy Development

  • Stay current on local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental health and safety. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and update environmental health and safety policies and procedures. Communicate these policies to team members and ensure understanding and compliance.
Qualifications:

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related field; or 3 years of professional safety and health experience. Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and ANSI regulations and experience with regulatory training.
  • Demonstrated ability in taking ownership and initiative of responsibilities and executing them to meet business needs and deliverables.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and show strong organizational skills in a fast-paced business environment while maintaining attention to detail is critical.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to engage and inspire others to comply with safety policies and standards. Build relationships and effectively communicate with team members company wide.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and implement solutions to correct.
