Salud Para La Gente is Hiring a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Near Watsonville, CA

Description

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides clinical oversight and leadership to all clinical service lines at Salud Para La Gente (Salud). The CMO supervises clinical department leaders and ensures that Salud’s strategy and priorities are incorporated into the functioning and operations of each clinical department. The role is responsible for the productivity of the clinical staff and the quality of care that is delivered by Salud’s clinicians. The CMO is instrumental in directing Salud’s quality assurance, peer review, risk management, credentialing, clinical policies and procedures, and clinician recruitment efforts. The CMO is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, which is responsible for setting the agency’s goals and direction and maintaining alignment with Salud’s mission and vision. The position reports directly to the CEO. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions include but are not limited to the following: 

· Oversee the clinical performance and outcomes of Salud’s primary and specialty care departments. Supervise, support and develop Salud’s clinical leaders. Set the standards for professional performance for medical and clinical support staff. Oversee the provider performance review and professional development process.

· Direct Salud’s systems for quality assurance, risk management, credentialing, clinical policies and procedures, and clinician peer review. Ensure that Salud’s patient care and operations meet regulatory and compliance requirements. Assist in interpreting policies, rules, regulations, or laws relevant to the organization. 

· In partnership with the COO, provide leadership to Salud’s clinical departments working collaboratively to build high functioning department teams focused on delivering exceptional clinical quality and patient care. Functioning as a dyad, the CMO and COO lead Salud’s patient satisfaction improvement efforts and achievement of visit revenue projections as budgeted. Ensure that efficient systems for care delivery are in place. Provide direction on the effective use of resources to support Salud’s operational objectives. 

· With the COO, lead Salud’s quality improvement and practice transformation efforts, to include population health and disease management strategies. Guide the implementation and improvement of services, programs and workflows. Champion departmental and multi-specialty patient care improvement initiatives. 

· Working with the CFO, coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and/or increase efficiency and clinician productivity. Support the preparation of budgets including those for funding or implementation of programs. Along with the COO, accountable for the budgetary performance of Salud’s clinical departments. 

· In collaboration with CHRO, ensure that solid and active systems for clinician recruitment are functioning well across all clinical departments. Provide guidance on new clinician orientation and on-boarding. Review staffing plans on an on-going basis. 

· Support and collaborate closely with the CEO on strategic planning, decision-making, and overall leadership of the organization.

· Present on a regular basis to the Board of Directors on quality, operational and regulatory related topics. Support and participate in committee meetings as directed. 

· Represent Salud with the medical community attending conferences and giving public presentations as needed. 

· Perform duties and responsibilities as a practicing physician. Clinical care will account for approximately 40% of the CMO’s work duties. 

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: 

· State of the art medical and scientific treatment methods in one’s area of specialty. 

· Current medical, educational and psychosocial intervention procedures.

· Principles and practices of public health medicine laws and regulations.

· Systems thinking, program design and planning.

· Health care administration in a non-profit ambulatory care environment.

· Community health clinic delivery systems. 

Ability to:

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Board certified in a medical specialty, preferably Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn.

· Valid Physician’s or Surgeon’s License in State of California with no pending or previous disciplinary actions from any state licensing entity.

· At least five years’ experience in a leadership position in a health care setting, with a minimum of two years in a senior management role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· FQHC experience

· Bilingual, Spanish/English

· Prior experience as a Chief Medical Officer/Asst. Chief Medical Officer role or equivalent

SALARY & BENEFITS:

· $301,346.46 - $366,288.50/ year

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, may move or lift up to 50 pounds.
