CECO seeks a highly motivated, talented, and dynamic individual to serve as Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teacher. The ESE teacher will provide a developmentally appropriate educational programming designed to promote the positive physical, cognitive and socio-emotional growth and development of each student, utilizing the principles of differentiated instruction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Education, or somewhat related field)
• Florida Professional Teaching Certificate PreK-3rd
• Exceptional Education Endorsement
• The ability to teach in small (6-7) groups, or one-on-one with students
• Possess effective classroom management skills as it relates to an effective learning environment, discipline and assessment
• Have the ability to be flexible in working with students at all levels
• Ability to organize, prioritize and deliver a variety of instructional strategies
• The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and writing
• Have skills in human relations and conflict management

Responsibilities:

• Provide small group and individualized instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students
• Participate as an active/cooperative member of a professional team to plan and implement differentiated programs and activities based on developmental levels of each student
• Collect and use data to determine the effects of learning experiences on student’s development
• Handle attendance and progress reports
• Integrates the basic principles of Conductive Education into curriculum and learning experiences including necessary modifications to accommodate all students’ needs
• Work regularly with other professional staff to establish student physical, cognitive, and social learning objectives/goals, evaluate progress, and determine areas in need of further change/improvement for each student
• Utilize proactive/appropriate individual and group behavior management, techniques conducive to an effective learning environment, including positive redirection, strategy implementation/tracking, data collection, functional behavior assessments, and the creation of behavior plans where appropriate
• Participates in team meetings/professional learning and school-based activities/events
• Ensure and provide basic caregiving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for students

Physical Requirements

• Physical/mental stamina with ability to repetitively lift 50 lbs. or more.
• Consistent ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, carry, push or pull objects, equipment and or students.
• Ability to perceive/discriminate sounds in the environment.

Minimum Experience:

• Prefer 1 to 3 years teaching experience working with children with various disabilities and behavior needs

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation is $21.00/hour.
