Job Description
Palette Hotels seeks a Senior Regional Director of Operations to lead the operations for a portfolio of 12-20 hotels. Given the organization's current and continued growth, we seek a strong operator with a confident and consultative business mindset to lead a regional team of hotel GMs. The ideal candidate for this role should be energetic and skilled in building relationships, with a proven track record of achieving results through past experiences. We are searching for an impactful team player who can shape talent, enhance team and operational performance, and ensure business objectives are achieved and/or exceeded.
Requirements
The Senior Regional Director of Operations will
  • Establish structure and routine for communication and collaboration with regional GMs to support a culture of teamwork and achievement. Provide clear goals, priorities, and expectations for the team.
  • Review and critique hotel performance (financial, GSS, market share, pace, etc.) daily, weekly, and monthly to identify areas of opportunity for performance improvement and coaching for your GMs and their operations teams.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Revenue Management to create the strategy for pricing, sales, and marketing. Provide coaching for GMs on how to optimize staffing and efforts in these areas.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with our major franchise brand partners, ensuring process compliance and quality standards are consistent across the region.
  • Address escalated issues promptly and effectively, collaborating with department heads to facilitate efficient resolution. Communicate any significant or persistent issues to the senior team for necessary support and oversight.
  • Perform various investigations and/or audits related to risk management or other areas as needed or as recommended by the brand or our corporate team.
  • Build a culture of continual learning across the operations teams in your region. Provide strategic and tactical direction to dedicated HR and/or training staff to ensure training programs meet our business objectives.
  • Maintain knowledge of operational requirements and business reporting procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the market.
  • Identify new business development opportunities in the region and develop strategies to grow the market in collaboration with our Business Development team.
  • Authorize expenditures and monitor cost controls across the region.
  • Recruit, hire and train hotel operations team members as needed.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess at least 8 years of experience working within the hospitality industry, specifically in hotel management or operations.
  • Demonstrated success in regional operations management for major brand hotels such as IHG, Hilton, Marriott, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience, exercising considerable judgment and discretion in dealing with matters of significance for the company.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% within Texas regions (and others less frequently) as needed for property visits, team meetings, coaching sessions, ownership meetings, etc.
  • P&L and income statement responsibility for a multi-unit organization.
  • Experience with yearly budget process for multiple hotels.
  • Extensive knowledge in sales, employment practices, and business development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Demonstrated history of defining problems, collecting data, drawing conclusions, proposing solutions, and coaching others to approach work this way.
  • Experience building team culture and commitment to shared objectives.
  • Experience working remotely is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, MBA, or master's degree preferred.
