Oregon Health & Science University is Hiring an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Near OR, OR

Function/Duties of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide outpatient medical management to hepatology patients. This position will also oversee and interpret transient elastography (outpatient hepatic fibrosis assessment testing similar to ultrasound) tests, support statewide hepatitis C treatment initiatives including the ECHO (remote hepatitis C care), and other initiatives as part of the hepatology team. The APP will be trained to evaluate patients independently including counseling on diagnoses, education on procedural expectations, risks, benefits and possible adverse events. The APP will also be trained to review incoming hepatology clinic referrals and triage them appropriately to a procedure or clinic evaluation. The APP will provide support to the hepatology team in terms of pathology follow up, patient calls, and electronic medical record coverage. The APP will function and be supported in a team-based approach to Hepatology in an expanding practice.

Daily duties include providing excellent outpatient consultative service to address needs of the patient and referring provider, likely with approximately 3-4 days a week of outpatient clinic and daily referral review and pathology/results processing.

Required Qualifications

  • The Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA) or a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
  • The APP is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with prior GI experience, an eagerness to learn, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are encouraged to apply. Those without prior GI experience but who are enthusiastic and diligent learners will be provided thorough training on hepatology diagnoses, pathology and management.

Physician Assistant:

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program.
  • Current registration with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed Physician Assistant.
  • Current ACLS certification.

Additional Details

  • Hybrid position- working remote and in person in a busy clinic setting.
