POSITION: Community Scheduler/Med-Tech
TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Health & Wellbeing Director
DEPARTMENT: Resident Care
STATUS: NON EXEMPT
SUMMARY
Community Scheduler/Med-Tech is responsible for the care department staff daily schedule and shift assignments, coordinating schedules to meet state requirements and community staffing ratios. The Scheduler supports operations and the provision of quality care to residents of the Community. Scheduler will require advanced knowledge of medical practices as well as excellent discretion and judgement when working with residents and family members. Scheduler will participate in hiring, overseeing, and mentoring Resident Care staff. General responsibilities include: support in the coordination of services for resident care, coordinating with various department heads from dining, maintenance, engagement and housekeeping; maintaining a clean, attractive secure and safe environment; ensuring state and federal staff levels and regulations are maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree preferred
Must be 21 years of age or older
Successful completion of a state approved nursing assistant training program and a state approved trained medication assistant program
Current and active certification on the Georgia Nursing Assistant Registry and current certification in Medication Administration
Must successfully clear a background check, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
Current CPR certification
Must have a valid driver's license
Current certificate of training for successful completion of the five (5) hour initial fire safety training provided by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creates staff schedule for CMAs and Resident Care Partners for the Community
  • Completes certificated medication assistants and care staffing and scheduling according to the operational and budgetary guidelines
  • Supports the implementation and consistency of resident care services and engagement
  • Analyzes, interprets, and makes deductions from varying facts or circumstances and communicates those with the Nursing Director(s) to create plan of action for residents
  • Ensures proper follow through and documentation for residents with a change in care needs
  • Facilitates, assists or leads small groups or engaging in one on one experiences with residents- Activities include socialization, personal growth, exercise, music, community integration, spiritual development, recreation and performance improvement under the direction of the Engagement Director
  • Supports in reviewing wellness files according to Orchard policy, federal and state guidelines
  • Reports to Nursing Director(s) to identify, review, discuss potential changes in service / medication levels
  • Supports Nursing Director(s) with managing and coordinating resident care appointments
  • Informs the Nursing Director(s) of any changes in medication or service level that may result in a higher tier level or potential move-out
  • Completes weights and vital signs monthly for each resident prior to completion of monthly wellness visit
  • Supports in the maintenance of wellness supplies for the community daily needs and emergency kits
  • Supports the monitoring of each resident's medication and treatment profile to ensure each medication and treatment is administered as ordered and documented accurately
  • Supports in the monitoring of the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications
  • Supports the Nursing Director(s) with interviewing and onboarding new nurses, community supervisors, Certified Medication Assistants and Resident Assistants
  • Supports in the facilitation of ongoing trainings and skills competencies of resident care staff
  • Actively participates in risk management programs
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others' views
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information to develop alternative solutions both independently and with groups
  • Manages challenging or emotional resident, family member, and employee situations, responding promptly to their request for service and assistance, while soliciting feedback to improve service insuring that commitments are met
  • Focuses on solving conflict and not blaming
  • Listens to others without interrupting and keeps emotions under control- Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things
  • Provides assistance with assigned personal care tasks that meet resident physical and emotional personal needs consistent with the Orchard philosophy
  • Administers prescribed medication as ordered by a physician to residents and maintains related medical records under the supervision of the RN

  • Promotes and support safety awareness and implement safety operations
  • Encourages staff to make suggestions on safety practices
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with department director and associates
  • Participates in orientation of new employees
  • Participates in volunteer orientations, training and education as requested
  • Remains updated and communicates state regulation changes to all associates
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations (i.e. OSHA)
  • Participates in the risk management programs
  • Demonstrates the ability to be innovative and creative and have patience, high energy and resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Assists as requested by the Executive Director or supervisor in a dining room during resident meal times to ensure residents have a positive experience
  • Must always be accessible either by phone or email. Voice messages and emails are responded to within 24 hours
  • Participates in the Manager on Duty (MOD) call rotation as requested
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of our residents
  • Follows Professional Dress Code policies as outlined in the employee handbook for community and department specific standards
  • Adheres to Orchard's No Cell Phone policy as outlined in the employee handbook at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
