JOB DESCRIPTION

  • FULL TIME

Location: Tulsa, OK

The Dean of Student Engagement offers inspiring and effective leadership for a team of student life professionals, fostering a culture of productivity and enhancing student engagement. With a strategic approach, this role spearheads the assessment of student life initiatives and drives the development of innovative programs and strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing the Residence Hall Directors, the Student Life Project Manager, and the Resident Advisor Program, ensuring alignment with best practices and the continuous enhancement of student engagement opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee non-academic responsibilities for undergraduate students.
  • Serve as primary student conduct officer, ensuring a robust, faith-based approach to conflict resolution and accountability to institutional decorum standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Student Life as it relates to emergency management, providing the coordination of student welfare and crisis response protocols.
  • Participate in the student care initiative meetings, advising on student support functions and cross-functional collaboration efforts for individual student care plans.
  • Collaborates with Student Life directors and key campus partners to develop student formation-wide student leadership initiatives and opportunities.
  • Oversee and manage all responsibilities of the Resident Advisor Program.
  • Engage with students in frequent areas on campus such as the student union, residence halls and dining establishments to ensure healthy community living standards.
  • Prepare and manage fiscal operation budget for the department as approved by the Vice President of Student Life.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the ORU community.
  • Collaborate with internal service areas to participate and assist with student retention strategies.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Masters degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or related field.
  • Requires at least two years of supervisory experience, to include leading and developing effective training.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
  • Live near the ORU campus or in University-provided housing.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools required. Familiarity with Banner and Maxient preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, grammar, leadership, administrative, mathematical, multitasking, and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong ability to handle multi-tasks, self-motivated, and maintain a professional demeanor in a busy office environment.
  • Highly motivated and excellent work ethic.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Effective people skills and collaboration with others.
  • Ability to effectively explain and enforce University regulations, policies, and procedures is essential.
  • Maintain high integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Must have the ability to effectively deal with persons from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
