We are looking for a motivated and heartfelt individual interested in working full-time to help provide dental care to the community.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the dentist(s) with the day-to-day patient operation and ensuring all patients are given exceptional care and treatment.

COMPENSATION: $21.75-$22.86

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time (36 hours/week)

AVAILABILITY: Tuesday to Friday

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  2. Prepares patients for dental treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping patients.
  3. Prepares for and anticipates patients’ and dentists’ needs.
  4. Reviews and records medical updates, medications, and takes and records vital signs of patients.
  5. Ensures all necessary consent forms are properly completed, documented, and signed.
  6. At all subsequent visits, assistant ensures/expedites any medical changes and/or prescription changes and records in chart.
  7. Identifies if patient (if indicated) took their pre-medication. If patient took pre-medication, it must be documented in the chart. If patient did not take pre-medication, dentist is informed and pre-medication is dispensed, or patient is rescheduled.
  8. Maintains unsterile and sterile zone in sterilization area while wearing appropriate PPE. Properly sterilizes and maintains/lubricates handpieces.
  9. Delivers instruments to treatment area, positions instruments for dentist’s access, suctions oral cavity and passes instruments.
  10. Properly utilizes and maintains sterilization equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  11. Provides diagnostic information by exposing radiographic images and by pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
  12. Ensures patients’ comfort before, during, and after treatment. Dismisses patient with clean skin.
  13. Maintains patients’ appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations.
  14. Cleans removable appliances during every exam visit.
  15. Educates patients by providing oral hygiene and postoperative instructions.
  16. Provides written and/or oral patient education materials to patients and documents in the electronic health record (EHR) what was discussed orally and/or presented in written form.
  17. Documents dental services by charting findings, diagnosis, treatment plan, and completed care in patient records.
  18. Helps with intake duties as needed.
  19. Monitors EHR for flags and communications specific to clinic sites and patient care.
  20. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  21. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with protocols, rules, and regulations.
  22. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures as set forth by centers for disease control (CDC).
  23. Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish tasks.
  24. Maintains appropriate stock of supplies and instruments for proper function of dental clinic.
  25. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending continuing education (CE) classes.
  26. Actively participates in daily team huddles.
  27. Contributes to team effort with other duties as assigned.
  28. Participates in performance optimization and risk management activities as required.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certificates/Licenses:

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • BLS Certification upon hire
  • On the job training provided to attain radiographic state license for dental x-rays
    • To be completed within 3 months of hire date

Preferred

  • Dental Assistant certification from accredited Dental Assistant program, authorized to work in the state of practice.

Experience:
