JOB SUMMARY

The Merchandise Center Visual Manager has primary responsibility for merchandising retail products offered in six retail stores within LMNRA and assist with buying. They are expected to work in each store, setting up displays, keeping them fully stocked, clean and organized. They are to assist with keeping shelves stocked and collaborating with the Merchandise Center Manager and store managers to make sure product is displayed properly and making sure inventory stock levels are correct. This position reports to the Business Manager. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Promotes the spirit and intent of Guest Services Hospitality Standards
  • Works closely with the Merchandise Center Manager establishing the designs of retail units; direct merchandising and displays. Review and direct quality of all retail units, monitoring compliance with National Park
  • Service rules, regulations, and agreements.
  • Set displays and make sure to incorporate height and assist operations in keeping the stores stocked and organized.
  • Drive traffic through creative displays.
    Works with Merchandise Center Manager on analyzing reports and strategies to promote slow moving items.
  • Assist with development of annual budgets. Monitor budgeted levels and react time in all controllable areas for retail units in sales, costs of sales, payroll, and controllable expenses, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures across all retail units and the warehouse throughout the receiving, handling, sorting, and transferring process.
  • Ensure process for ongoing cycle counts in operating units.
  • Make sure appropriate signage is displayed in all stores with retail operations managers direction (local, USA made, handmade, native American).
  • Help stores to pull programs together and update display tables & window displays to keep them fresh with new programs ensuring displays are shoppable from multiple sides.
  • Works with Merchandise Center Manager in making sure product is being sent to each store.
  • Help in warehouse, processing orders, checking in freight.
  • Assist with inventories and assist with building a diverse array of products encompassing souvenirs, apparel, sporting goods local and native handcraft, specialty gifts that represent the area and the park,
  • Performs any other duties as may be required or assigned.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

  • High school education with some college education preferred.
  • Two years direct experience in a similar capacity and position accountabilities.
  • Retail Point-of-Sale and database experience and working knowledge with a preference to Clover and CounterPoint.
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people; ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to learn and develop new skills; ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently. Must be extremely organized, accurate, and detail oriented.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk in front of a computer for the entire work day. 
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 15 lbs. occasionally, up to 30 lbs. seldom.
  • Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects.
