**OVERVIEW:**

Under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor; the essential duties for telecommunications constructions laborer perform a wide variety of duties, to support, maintain and establish our telecommunication projects. The position involves physical labor duties at public & private roads, street and highway sites and must be able to work in all weather conditions.

A laborer must follow strict safety standards to protect themselves and complete high-quality projects on a timely manner.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:**

* Operation of variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.

* Must be able to dig trenches, backfill excavations, or compact earth to grade specifications, using shovels and other equipment

* Must follow project plans by loading and unloading materials, machinery, and tools; and distribute to appropriate locations

* The position must perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in road/highway environments to prepare worksite for telecommunications cabling

* Must be able to locate underground utilities and eliminate potential hazards for cabling work to be completed

* Use of hand tools and machinery including shovels, picks, and various power tools to complete arrangements.

* Maintain a clean job site: ensure tools are in proper place, secure equipment and supplies to avoid potential hazards.

* Conduct traffic control near, in or around work zones

* Perform material handling and storage tasks

* Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Must pass the necessary pre-screening test

* High School Diploma or GED preferred.

* Must be able to work with a team or alone

* Must demonstrate adequate hand and power tool handing.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

* Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 75 pounds

* Must be able to pull ropes and work under various weather conditions (Cold, Hot, Wet Dry)

* Local travel required to a variety of worksites

* Must be able to work in loud, noise-filled environment out in the field
