A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKER (MSW, LCSW)

As a Medical Social Worker, you play an integral role in assisting the physicians and other members with understanding the social and emotional factors related to the health problems of our patients. You participate in the development of the plan of care for each patient you work with while maintaining clinical and progress notes. Working alongside the family, you compile a list of community resources that are the most helpful for your patient while adhering to the plan of care. You also help with discharge planning and attend in-services as needed.

In addition, you act as a consultant to other employees within our organization to ensure our patients are all receiving well-rounded care. The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions. You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. Always punctual and reliable, you arrive to work ready to tackle any task that comes your way, which at times includes helping around the office and assisting with orientation for new staff. You love having a job where you get to help others make their lives better, which is why you excel in this position in home health care!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKER (MSW, LCSW)

  • Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • 1 years of social work experience in a healthcare setting
  • CPR certification or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of being hired

Having an LCSW is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you highly organized and attentive to detail? WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time position in home health care works a typical schedule of 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday.
