A. FUNCTION

Nile Sisters Development Initiative (NSDI), a non-profit public charitable organization, is seeking a part-time Program Director (RN). Reporting to the Director of Operations, the incumbent provides general supervision of - and instruction in - NSDI’s LearnMore NATP (Nursing Assistant Training Program). This includes faculty supervision, curriculum appraisal and approval, verification of student training, and authorizing CDPH initial application form 283B upon the student’s successful completion of the nursing assistant program or other governing agencies for other programs.

B. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, as well as ensuring program compliance with the CDPH standards.
  • Provide leadership and management skills in academic and workforce areas, which include meeting student retention goals, directing, and participating in educational planning programs.
  • Responsible for organizing, training, staffing, monitoring, and supervising both full‐time and part‐time faculty, assuring that faculty meets all legal CDPH qualification standards.
  • Responsible for planning, preparing and presenting classroom instruction, clinical training, and related activities.
  • Responsible for evaluating faculty and student performance, motivating and advising students, assisting with maintaining the program budget, and generating program reports as needed.
  • Accountable for developing, monitoring, and supervising the NATP curriculum.
  • Responsible for assessing the instructional needs of students in the program and coordinating the development of a lesson plan to address these needs.
  • Responsible for scheduling classes within the program following the CDPH-approved training schedule (CDPH 276 B).
  • Responsible for ensuring that each student has completed all the requirements of the NATP set forth by the CDPH prior to signing the CDPH 283B form.
  • Responsible for reviewing LearnMore P&Ps on an annual or as-needed basis in relation to the regulations of the CDPH, as well as making appropriate recommendations for changes.
  • Assisting with identifying and recruiting qualified faculty for the program, reviewing credentials for compliance with CDPH, and assisting with hiring decisions.
  • Counseling students who violate the P&P of the school and implementing appropriate resolutions to any violations.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality assurance to remain compliant with all required agencies.
  • Responsible for preparing on‐site reviews by accrediting agencies. 
  • Responsible for preparing clinical contracts and continually meeting requirements for appropriate regulations.
  • Responsible for recruiting clinical sites from numerous facilities
  • Responsible for maintaining affiliation agreements and a functional working relationship with clinical training sites.
  • RNPD will present to the CDPH application for approval of additional staff should the need arise in accordance with Title 22 CCR section 72501(g).
  • Accountable for supervising the faculty, including oversight of lesson plans, scheduling (update as needed), and providing annual performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for ensuring all students meet the minimum enrollment requirements including criminal background checks, physical examinations, and immunizations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that a maximum of 15 students may be assigned to one faculty during clinical training.
  • Responsible for evaluating students and recording student grades on appropriate forms.
  • Responsible for making faculty assignments for theory and clinical rotations.

C. REQUIREMENTS OF QUALIFIED CANDIDATES

  • Be a Registered Nurse (RN) who at minimum meets Title 22 section 71829 requirements.
  • Possess a valid and current Board of Registered Nursing license.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree; Master’s degree in nursing or related health care field (preferred).
  • Have five years' nursing experience working with geriatric patients, with a minimum of one year experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility.
  • Have two years’ experience developing curricula and lesson plans, and a minimum of twenty-four hours of continuing education (CE) courses in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
  • Have three years’ previous teaching experience in nursing-related field.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills

D. WORKING CONDITIONS, JOB SETTING, and COMPENSATION

  • Part-time. Salary is commensurate with experience and educational background.
  • Flexible work environment - work will be performed in school and healthcare settings and NSDI headquarters, as well as in an office setting, and requires the use of electronic equipment, including computers, telephones, etc.
  • Flexibility in schedule, including scheduled evenings and weekends, as required by the school schedule.
  • Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal and telephone communication. Ability to sit for long periods, standing, computer entry, walking, repeated bending, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs., reaching
