Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Oakley, KS

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. The willingness to work as a team member with a variety of individuals and take directions from supervisors.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively and function cooperatively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators individually and in a group.
  3. Initiative that will lead to continued program improvement and development.
  4. Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
  5. Must have and maintain a dependable means of transportation.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Hold or be eligible for Certification as a School Psychologist in Kansas levels EC-12.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Be a contributing member of the General Ed Intervention team.
  2. Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate diagnostic evaluations.
  3. Attend and provide the staffing team with recommendations for programming/placement for all students evaluated.
  4. Develop detailed written report of each evaluation summarizing the results of the evaluation and listing appropriate recommendations.
  5. Conduct individual and/or group therapy for children with disabilities whose IEP designates such a service.
  6. Consults with teachers, administrators, and parents on special educational needs of students with disability.
  7. Interpret the school psychological evaluation results to teachers, administrators and parents.
  8. Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings, as needed.
  9. Maintain proper license/certificate.
  10. Maintain a log of activities as directed to meet local, state, and/or federal guidelines.
  11. Responds to crisis situations to provide mental health support to students and staff.
  12. Responds to other duties as assigned by NKESC Administrators.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  1. Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; and physical agility to reach overhead.
  2. Ability to move between schools, school buildings and multiple rooms.
  3. Ability to interact with students that meet's their physical, emotional and psychological needs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Per negotiated agreement.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the USD #602 Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
