Authorization Specialist - Benevis LLC. - Atlanta, GA

Job Summary:

The Authorization Specialist verifies initial and ongoing payer authorization (patient insurance and benefits, patient referrals, insurance authorizations, workers compensation cases, patient financial counseling, and medical billing functions) and eligibility.

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:

• Receives authorization from insurance carrier prior to providing treatment to patients
• Facilitates process for requesting and submissions of authorizations and prior authorizations for insurance claims
• Contact payers to follow up on authorizations
• Check status of authorizations
• Pull authorization requests from PA/OCR queue
• Update of queue on prior authorization status
• Submission of post authorizations
• Plans and organizes work effectively, meets all productivity requirements, and ensures its
• Performs to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations, company standards, and company compliance programs
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance authorization, billing, revenue cycle
• Revenue Cycle experience required

Required or Specialized Skills:

• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
• Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal)
• Well-organized and detailed with the ability to communicate in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Ability to work well with a team
• High attention to detail
• Knowledge of ADA Codes a must
• Ability to read and interpret x-rays a must

Physical Requirements:

The nature of work requires the ability to:

• Effectively communicate and exchange information with staff, supervisors, and other internal clients
• Operate a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment

Work performed in a non-clinical office environment. Requires availability for extended hours during peak periods. Hours may change to meet the business needs
