Overview Act as Network Engineer to support the C3F Maritime Operations Center in San Diego, CA supporting shore Commander Third Fleet and other commanders within the AOR. Conducts on site troubleshooting and maintenance assistance for problems that may cross multiple Navy systems, and provides training on the systems. Lead/coordinate troubleshooting with other shore and afloat Fleet Systems Engineers. Candidate will be responsible for daily operations of multiple C3F MOC systems to include the management of the C2LAN and the installation and configuration of current and new systems that are being integrated in the C3F network architecture. The individual will configure routers, switches, servers Cisco Firepower FMC, ISE and VOIP phones to meet DISA and Navy IA requirements as well as providing training to THIRD Fleet personnel in these areas. The member will also provide support in troubleshooting network issues and support the C3F ADP department in server configuration. May interact with multiple customer organizations Responsibilities • Candidate will be responsible for supporting the C3F C2LAN. Conduct on site troubleshooting and maintenance assistance for problems that may cross multiple Navy systems, provides training on the systems. Lead/coordinate troubleshooting with other shore and afloat Fleet Systems Engineers.
• Coordinate repair of installed C4I systems and other advisory and systems engineering services; report all configuration issues and changes to the C3F Change Advisory Board (CAB).
• Provide on-site engineering and technical support for the integration of IT hardware and software upgrades incorporated into the C2LAN.
• Provide support for maintenance of the system hard ware and software, system architecture, configuration and systematic baseline to meet the site/node objectives; on-site support shall provide activity based technical and engineering support.
• Provide architecture support consisting of enterprise level backbone switches, edge switches, intrusion protection systems (IPS) Firepower firewalls, FMC and ISE. The contractor may also be required to reconfigure edge switches, VOIP phones with no Call Manager and other basic network infrastructure.
• Provide recommendations for improvement or alternative networking strategies;
• Assist in conducting preliminary network testing after integration and configuration of site upgrades and modifications.
• Maintain required certifications in accordance with DOD 8570.01-M for IAT2.
• Support the Cyber Security Team (IA), to include adherence to IA policies, ACAS scans and mitigations operations of IA related systems to include HBSS configuration on installed systems.
• Support the configuration of the C2LAN network to include IA requirements and mitigations in the support of IATO/ATO.
• The individual will be responsible for all quarterly/annual DISA STIG updates for assigned network equipment it the organization’s ATO boundary.
• Provide support for restoral procedures, rapid response for emergent issues, and network documentation, along with review of security and audit logs.
• Interacting with multiple shore and ship-based customer organizations will be required.
• The individual will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all security requirements.
• The Individual shall attend applicable N6 meetings.
• The individual shall provide status reports as required by the Site and AOR lead.
• Be comfortable working with senior military personnel in a command center environment.
• Less than 5% travel may be required Qualifications Minimum Qualification
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 7 years technical experience in related discipline required. Certification as IAT2 (per DoD Inst 8750.1 and Navy guidance) with IA and CE (Cisco IOS) Certification required. Certification in Microsoft operating highly desired. Skills: Experience with networking (Cisco preferred) and Microsoft systems and VMware server virtualization required. Experience with Windows Server and email highly desired. Total 3 years in networking required, with recent experience with DoD Information Assurance/CND systems and policies such as HBSS required. Experience implementing HBSS on C2 related systems highly desired. Ability to work with a team to resolve complex problems across multiple systems required. Experience in information assurance operations also required, including use of scanning tools and use of STIGs. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
