Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division is currently seeking Sr. Staff FPGA Design Engineers for our Linthicum, Maryland location. This position will support our Remote Sensing Program (RSP) Business Unit. Job Description: * Develop digital logic designs for space applications such as satellite command and control and sensor data processing.
* This position is responsible for the design, development, creation, and modification of digital logic designs implemented with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA IDEs.
* Scope of responsibility also includes simulation and verification of FPGA logic designs, compliance requirements, and supporting validation at the system level.
* Candidate will coordinate with members of multi-functional teams to develop innovative solutions
* Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.
* Is able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Comfortable in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.
* Direct design engineers during development process to ensure requirements are met on schedule and within budget
* Is able to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional team members. * Has strong writing skills and is proficient at documenting design and analysis reports as well as test reports.
* Drive improvement of internal engineering processes
* Position may require occasional travel to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with suppliers.THIS IS A PART-TIME ROLE (MIN 20 HRS NOT TO EXCEED 30 HRS) so the salary will be adjusted accordingly based on hours worked. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's in Science degree (STEM) with 14 years of related experience; or a Master's Degree with 12 years of related experience, or a PhD with 9 years of related experience.
* Experience with the use of various FPGAs or the development of HDL (Verilog and VHDL) code within the corresponding IDE.
* Experience translating customer requirements and/or functional block diagrams into realized FPGA/Digital Logic Designs
* Experience defining development test plans and/or methods
* Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance.
* Must be a U.S. Citizen Preferred Skills: * Active Top Secret Clearance
* Experience with implementing network protocols and standards
* Experience conducting code reviews including reviewing timing constraints
* Experience with implementing digital logic and low-level software for embedded designs in a System on Chip (SoC) device
* Develops detailed specifications from high level design goals and performs analysis of the hardware, system environment and design goals to enable selection and implementation of the desired system topology.
* Presents assigned work at program technical reviews, proposals, or other technical meetings.
* Possesses strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team to understand system level inter-dependencies and design constraints.
* Experience working in a cross functional environment (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, test engineering, production engineering, etc.) to translate customer requirements and functional block diagrams into realized Circuit Card Assemblies.
* Conduct trade studies, identify and present alternate design options.
* Experience with Systems Engineering principlesSalary Range: $183,100 - $288,400 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
