Summary:
The Medical Dosimetrist strives to develop and produce radiation oncology treatment plans per the physician's prescription and intent. A Medical Dosimetrist works diligently with the Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists utilizing all available computerized and/or manual treatment planning tools, understands planning goals/constraints, and develops the best treatment plans for their patients.
Responsibilities:
* Dosimetrists are available to the treatment Radiation Therapists for treatment consultation and CT sim imaging consultation when the dosimetrist input or feedback is required.
* Dosimetrists participate in departmental meetings, assist in the teaching of medical residents, physics residents and therapy students, and participates on special task groups as directed (such as the Radiation Safety Committee, Continuing Quality Improvement Committee, Chart Rounds, etc).
* Medical Dosimetrists perform all related radiation dosimetry functions that include but are not limited to treatment consultation, imaging, image fusions, normal tissue & organ at risk contouring, three-dimensional planning, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS planning, and emergency treatment planning.
* Proficiency in using CT imaging software and treatment planning systems
* Preferable experience with Raystation, Mosaiq, MIM, BrainLab iPlan, Brachyvision, RadCalc, VisionRT, Siemens CT, and Varian Linear Accelerators.
* Strong knowledge of radiation therapy principles, techniques, and equipment
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Other Information:
* Critical member of the Radiation Oncology Team.
* Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or Candidate may also have graduated from an approved Medical Dosimetry Program through the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists AAMD and have obtained MDCB board eligible status. The MDCB board exam must be passed within three years of employment as a Medical Dosimetrist. Continuing education hours are required to maintain the registered status to include 50 hours in a five-year time frame for CMD.

Education
* Required Associate's Degree*
* Associates or Bachelor's degree in medical dosimetry or related field.
