Position Purpose:
The Referral/Pre-Authorization Medical Assistant is responsible for coordinating patient benefits, testing and referrals, which includes obtaining pre-certifications for medication and outpatient procedures. Works with patients, insurance carriers and physician offices in a professional and courteous manner. Is responsible for documenting benefits, appointments and notates referral information in patient chart in EMR system. Performs routine, technical clinical/clerical duties and assist with other related duties involved in providing patient care. Demonstrates ethical and appropriate clinical behavior for the clinic environment to include (but not limited to) respect for the patient; dignity; rights; age and other specific care needs; and maintenance of confidentiality of information.
