Norfolk Iron and Metal is Hiring an Estimating Supervisor Near Norfolk, NE

Job Summary:
The Estimating Supervisor will supervise and training of the corporate estimating staff. The Estimating Supervisor will review customer drawings and specifications, determine appropriate material utilization, and labor functions, and determine the estimated cost of the projects. The Estimating Supervisor will communicate with the sales and operations department job details to the processing department. The Estimating Supervisor is responsible for training new and current Estimators on the latest processes and procedures.
Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:
Estimates / Job Setups
  1. The Estimating Supervisor will assign estimating duties to the members of the estimating staff. These may be by job type or by district. The estimating supervisor will continue to create estimates and review drawings.
  2. The Estimating Supervisor will participate in the review blueprints, specifications, customer proposals and drawings, and other documentation.
  3. The Estimating Supervisor will prepare time, costs summaries, and labor estimates for bids using company software and related nesting programs.
  4. The Estimating Supervisor will review all data to determine labor and material requirements and prepares a work order, including drawings, to communicate the data to the appropriate sale staff.
  5. Estimating Supervisor may review industry standards and/or other pertinent regulations for assistance in preparing the estimates.
Job Posting / WIP Analysis:
  1. Estimating Supervisor will communicate with the processing scheduler and Processing Supervisor regarding estimated times and completion dates to ensure jobs are on track for delivery.
  2. Estimating Supervisor will communicate and/or observe with the operators' cutting times and programs in process to isolate problem areas and identify best practices when cutting processed materials.
  3. Estimating Supervisor may be asked to take part in reviewing a machine and the operators processes to find the most efficient way to completing a job.
  4. The Estimating Supervisor will ensure that Estimators are programming CNC machines are out on the schedule to ensure smooth transition from job to job for the operator and accurately not to hold up the operations team.
Job Costing / Post Job Analysis:
  1. Estimating Supervisor will use company software to gather job cost data and assist the Estimating Supervisor in analyzing internal costing trends.
  2. Estimating Supervisor will ensure the future bids reflect current trends in costing.
  3. Estimating Supervisor may work with the Estimating Manager and Sales department in evaluating market trends and developing pricing strategies.
  4. The Estimating may assist the Estimating Manager in special studies to develop and establish standard hourly rates, cut tables and related cost data to reduce costs.
Training/Job Review:
  1. The Estimating Supervisor will be responsible for training of Estimators on new or existing processes and programming software's.
  2. The Estimator Supervisor will assist in the reviewing of larger processing jobs of Estimators to ensure accuracy of bid and control of part drawings and program files.
Supervisory/ Evaluation:
1. Estimating Supervisor will perform supervisory duties of estimating personnel and others as assigned.
2. Estimating Supervisor may be asked to assist in evaluating past employee performance and future growth potential.
Process Improvements / ISO:
  1. Assist the Estimating Manager in evaluating the workflow process and submit recommendations to management for improvement.
  2. May assist the Estimating Manager regarding potential technological investments including machines, software and automation to improve efficiency and increase profitability.
  3. Evaluate content and timing of paperwork and forms to ensure proper communication is maintained between processing personnel, including estimators, and other departments.
  4. Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements, ISO 9000 standards, and company policies and procedures.
  5. Other duties as assigned by the Estimating Manager and/or Processing Director or higher in the Org Chart.
Required Skills & Abilities:
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate items when appropriate.
•Proficient in MS Office Suite and estimating software.
Education and Experience:
•Associate's degree or higher
•At least two years of experience working in related position.
Physical Demands
•Over 2/3 of work time spent sitting, working on computer, using keyboard, talking on the telephone, bending, twisting, typing using fine motor skills, hands and fingers
•Over 2/3 of work time also spent communicating verbally and in writing
•Under 1/3 of work time spent walking, lifting, and carrying things up to 15 pounds unassisted
Work Environment:
•Typical office environment with minimal exposure to loud noise
