Job Summary

These positions have technical understanding of generator repair and operation and are able to perform repairs and preventive maintenance checks.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot operational failures of generators.
  • Repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units.
  • Install and test new generator units.
  • Work with other Technicians on larger projects.
  • Train lower-level Technicians.
  • Respond quickly to jobsites in case of emergency.
  • Document all work and repairs completed.
  • Follow safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Research and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite of programs.

Education & Experience Preferences/Requirements

Degree Required: Technical School Certificate

Certifications Preferred: Kohler Certifications based on Level

Years of Experience: 4-6

Experience in power generation industry; experience in diesel or gas engines.

Working Environment / Conditions

  • Must be able to use hands/fingers handle, or feel
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally up to 100 lbs.)
  • Be exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions (extreme heat and cold), and risk of electrical shock
