Position Overview:
Immediate full time, 40 hours per week opening for an LPN to be a PSYCHIATRIC CLINIC NURSE AND TRAINER for New Horizons Community Support Services, Inc. a community mental health center which provides rehabilitation services and residential services to adults with serious mental illness located in Jefferson City and Columbia, MO. Work setting is in Columbia within the clinic and some training responsibilities in the Columbia Residential Program facilities including one Residential Care Facility, and one Supported Apartment Facility.
Starting Salary: $41,600.00 annually.
Hours/benefits: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm occasional earlier morning or evening when needed to monitor students passing medications for L1MA certification class. Job duties include but not limited to:
•Provide quality efficient access to psychiatric services
•Perform health assessments and gather vital signs before Psychiatrist/APRN visits
•Perform risk assessments including the PHQ-9, CSSRS, AIMS scale, and Metabolic Syndrome Screening then report results per standard procedures
•Coordinate healthcare needs of consumers with the Psychiatrist/APRN, consumer, staff, social supports, outside agencies, pharmacies, etc. to facilitate excellent healthcare provision
•Perform, record, and track lab work (lipids and HbA1cs)
•Check the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), as required
•Provide health education to consumer, staff and/or supports, including symptoms, medications, health concerns, and psychiatric recommendations
•Assist the Psychiatrist/APRN to complete and submit prior authorizations for medications
•Provide on-going education for staff regarding medication administration and health related topics while being a champion for healthy lifestyle change including medication adherence, tobacco cessation, nutrition, physical activity, and substance use prevention
•Utilize information technologies
•Teach Level One Medication Aid (L1MA) certification and Insulin certification classes to Residential Program staff
•Teach First Aid and CPR classes to required staff
•Administer initial and annual TB tests to required staff and Residential Care Facility consumers
•Observe/instruct staff while they demonstrate medication administration passes and documentation as part of the L1MA certification course
•Coordinating training schedules with staff and ongoing tracking of required training
•Document/submit applications/record training information as required for L1MA, CPR/FA, and TB testing
Requirements
LPN in Missouri. Experience as a clinic nurse is preferred as well as experience working with individuals with mental illness. Willing to attend training and become certified as a LIMA Instructor and to become a CPR and First Aid Instructor. Must have valid driver's license and favorable driving record for traveling to residential facilities in Columbia, MO. Ability to utilize an electronic Medication Administration Record as part of the training process.
