Packaging Technician

Nephron Nitrile is a new privately-owned Nitrile Glove manufacturer. Nephron Nitrile products are proudly made in the USA! We are headquartered in West Columbia, South Carolina. The facility utilizes completely automated manufacturing, packaging, and distribution systems, in addition to high volume and redundant utility systems, to ensure production system availability.

Position Summary:

  • Basic level of knowledge, monitors and operates machinery in all packaging lines, can start and stop upstream/downstream equipment, participate in changeovers.
  • Perform machine challenges, exhibits, in-process inspections.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Work under the direction of Secondary Packaging Shift Supervisor
  • Assure the efficient performance of all department equipment.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Prior electrical/mechanical experience required.
  • Previous line technician experience preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, vacuum systems, electric motors, belt drive systems, and linear motion systems.
  • Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of packaging equipment preferred.
  • Must pass a Drug Test.
  • Must speak, write, and read English. 
  • Must have Valid Driver License
  • Specific expertise, skills and knowledge within engineering through education and experience.
  • A broad perspective that aligns decisions to organizational objectives and long term consequences of day-to-day activities.

  • Position requires reaching (waist to overhead), bending (waist to floor), climbing (floor to ceiling), lifting (up to 50 lbs), vision (20/20), good hearing, standing (50% of shift time), crawling, and sitting, gripping, talking and walking (50% of shift time). Exposed to the environmental factor of heat.
  • Incumbents may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, bouffant, and laboratory coats and other non-specified protective equipment as necessary.
  • Salary range: Based on experience
  • Monitor the operation of Secondary Packaging equipment to determine trends (i.e. vials per minute and pallets packaged per shift).
  • Responsible for starting, stopping and repairing minor problems with Secondary Packaging equipment. 
  • Responsible for clearing machine jams and minor adjustments. 
  • Perform line clearances, machine challenges, exhibits, and startup checklist.
  • Perform cleaning, vacuuming, and other housekeeping duties to maintain a high level of cleanliness of the Secondary Packaging lines.
  • Be trained on, and able to clear minor problems on all packaging lines (including Schubert)
  • Be familiar with Autoclave and understand how to start/stop the autoclave process.
  • Be familiar with Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs) and know how to clear faults.
  • Monitor waste and make adjustments to product placement as needed. Be able to maintain pouch appearance accordingly.
  • Add waste in the batch record, reset Brenton palletizer, understand vision and be able to correct printer issues.
  • Perform additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.
