Associate Medical Director - APRN-CNP

Neighborhood Health Association - Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, is responsible for the development and oversight of all clinically related programs and the overall operation of NHA’s medical services. Responsible for the execution of those measures necessary, as determined by Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance findings, to ensure the provision of quality medical care to NHA patients and ensure HRSA compliance. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP) will have direct patient care responsibilities as required by the organization (anticipated to be approximately 60%) on a part-time basis and administration (anticipated to be approximately 40%). Represents the organization at local, state and national meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient/clinical care in ambulatory setting as an APRN-CNP.
  • Rotates call coverage schedule with Providers.
  • Remains current on all accreditation standards for FQHCs including TJC, PCMH, HRSA and FTCA. developing and implementing policy and revising procedural processes as necessary to maintain accreditation standards while assuring that policies and procedures are responsive to the changing needs of the organization.
  • In concert with the Director of Clinical Support Services, establishes orientation and competencies for all medical clinic personnel.
  • Responsible for the leadership of all clinical support programs and their integration into the NHA PCMH care model and service delivery (ie. Centering, Moms & Babies, Mildred Bayer Clinic for the Homeless) and the development and implementation of such programs.
  • Participates in the long-range strategic planning process and develops clinical objectives for the agency, makes recommendations on priorities to the CMO.
  • Actively participates as a member of the Executive Management Team and the Quality Management Team, representing and providing strategic input from medical in EMT and QA team meetings.
  • Working with human resources, develops linkages and partnerships with residency programs, and externship programs for medical students through the OPCWI program.
  • Develops and implements a learning management platform for staff training and career ladder competencies to provide opportunities for clinical staff career advancement.
  • In cooperation with the CMO, participates in the development of the primary care budget and develops the medical department budget, including the compensation plan and supply budget.
  • Represents the agency in the community on medical issues with demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and interactive personal and management skills.
  • Advises CEO on information system needs, develops, recommends and conducts special studies of operations.
  • Interprets clinical data, formulates and recommends changes in clinical programming which are seen to be needed due to changes in health behavior epidemiology or problems in the community.
  • Lead the periodic review of practice management functions, e.g., receptor, telephone triage, patient flow, outreach service, laboratory, pharmacy, follow-up on missed appointments, referral tracking and transcription.
  • Review patient satisfaction surveys with the Director of Patient Experience and with the CMO, develops plans for response to outcomes of survey; resolves patient complaints as referred by the Quality Improvement Department.
  • Conducts regular departmental meetings with clinic providers and clinical staff to assure excellent communication and patient care goals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • APRN-CNP – Family Practice, licensed in the state of Ohio.
  • Should have demonstrated ability in the management of clinical providers and ancillary services.
  • Knowledge of QI/QA and or Total Quality Management theory and practices.
  • Knowledge of and a desire to work within a public/community medicine model of service delivery.
  • Ability to work with non-profit boards, committees, and task forces.
  • Ability to work with people of various economic, social, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with program planning and monitoring.

Monday - Friday schedule, no weekends or holidays.
