This is a half-time position based on a 230 day contract. It could be in conjuction with another half-time position in the district or as a stand alone position.
The coordinator of PK-12 Science Curriculum provides leadership, coordination and innovation in science curriculum development and instruction including core, intervention, and accelerated for all students (general education, special education, ELL, and high ability). Working in collaboration with instructional coaches, building and district leaders, the coordinator is ultimately responsible for the development, writing, and implementation of district curriculum, as well as the evaluation, and incorporation of texts, digital resources, and technology into classroom instruction.
Position Requirements:
Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and/or specified content area, Ed.D or Ph.D in Education preferred. Nebraska Teaching Certificate

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Oversees all aspects of district science curriculum and instruction including the development, implementation, and conducting the necessary professional development.
Develops a district wide science curriculum, instruction, and assessment framework with district and school administration, the staff, and the public.
Facilitates the development, implementation, and monitoring of the district science curriculum.
Ensures district curriculum is aligned to college and career ready standards.
Provides ongoing evaluation of curriculum maps and monitors the level at which implementation is occurring.
Facilitates and ensures district curriculum and assessment alignment.
Facilitates the development of instructional guidelines among the PK-12 schools and aligns curricula between grade levels, and between the elementary and secondary school
Designs, recommends, and carries out pilot projects specific to science, and disseminates and interprets the results to administrators, teachers, and staff, as appropriate.
Regularly observes science instruction in all classrooms.
Meets with school and district leaders to promote cohesive and interconnected science instruction.
Supports building leaders and teachers in developing initiatives/programs to support student and parent engagement (e.g. Science Nights).
Assists building leaders in the handling of day-to-day problems of science instruction and acts as a resource person for teachers and building leaders on science curriculum questions.
