We want to find an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Digital Product Manager to help develop and evolve our capabilities for our Distributed Energy Resource Management team in Waltham, MA (candidates may also reside in either, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). These capabilities will allow us to provide an always improving experience to our customers while reducing our costs to serve them. Job Purpose
To meet our fossil-free future and effectively support our customers now and in the future, an effective Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Management plan is core of National Grid Electric roadmap. This will deliver technical and commercial solutions to maximise our network's availability to customers and deliver an effective Distribution System Operator (DSO); whether that's providing effective short, medium and long-term forecasting to optimise generation and low/zero carbon technology operation or delivering commercial arrangements to enable DER to provide network support.
Digital DER Management solutions will revolutionize these activities and this role will take ownership of the development and delivery to enable National Grid to be recognised as the leading US utility to support ours and our customers' net zero ambitions.
What you'll do
As a Digital Product Manager, you'll oversee a team of product owners who will be responsible for delivering and meeting commitments for the DERMS portfolio. This will include the definition, planning, and execution of a broad range of outcome-focused products making up a co-ordinated and industry-defining portfolio.
You'll work closely with key New York and New England business stakeholders to build a cohesive strategy & vision, drive the development and delivery of the DERMS portfolio for measurable outcomes.
You'll be a positive disrupter who will lead by example, to effectively use frontier technology, re-imagine business processes and mature agile ways of working to accelerate time to market of solutions and outcomes. You'll also create an inclusive and energetic environment that thrives on innovation and create diverse high performing team culture. Key responsibilities include the following:

• Partner with business stakeholders to define and align business and product vision and strategy.
• Define and communicate an effective vision for digitalised work execution, its value and benefit, throughout the organisation and with our stakeholders to create a collaborative and informed end user experience.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of product owners with indirect responsibility for additional cross-functional team members
• Lead cross-functional teams in planning, prioritization, and product delivery
• Define and measure business impact, and monitor performance of initiatives and communicate performance metrics to key stakeholders
• Leverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results

What you'll need

• A degree directly related to or transferable to digital delivery and / or the energy system more broadly
• Comfortable in disputing the 'status quo' and driving change at an enterprise level
• Undeniable capability to manage a critical programme / portfolio of digital products to transform business operations
• Experience successfully leading and improving teams that are highly effective both in terms of impact and team culture
• Ability to create a industry leading judicious vision for a critical portfolio and be able to turn that in to tangible and obtainable deliverables with a track-record for exceeding expectations
• Ability to get to the root of the problem quickly, develop frontier solutions in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and communicate that effectively to all levels within the organisations and beyond
• Strong communication skills with an ability to successfully navigate a complex organization and generate and maintain buy-in for ideas and plans.
• Strong technical background, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, designers, UX, and data science
• Product development and implementation experience within a US energy utility would be hugely valuable

Downstate NY $167,000 - $197,000 a year
Massachusets $156,000 - $184,000 a year
Upstate NY $139,000 - $164,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
