Part-Time Behavior Coach

Job Description: Behavior Coaches are essential members of the RTI2-B District Leadership Team and provide coaching/technical assistance for school-based Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III teams. Behavior Coaches conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and use assessment data to create, coach, and monitor implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIP).
Credentials: Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst or significant progress towards achieving board certification and licensure as a Behavior Analyst. Three to five years of experience working with children with behavior and emotional issues within a school setting. Current Tennessee Teaching License with endorsement is preferred.
Other Qualifications: Demonstrate empathy for and understanding of the dynamics of families with students with behavioral and emotional issues. Experience collaborating with parents, school, and community professionals. Respect and protect the confidentiality rights of parents and children.
Physical Demands: Must be able to see, hear and move quickly enough to provide for the safety and instructional needs of the children. Must be able to articulate clearly. Must be physically active and interactive throughout the school day (I. E., be able to stand for extended periods of time stoop, bend, do light lifting, push, pull, step, and have good finger dexterity). Must have emotional coping skills appropriate for the management of student behavior. Must tolerate environmental smells and substances commonly associated with children and educational institutions. The person in this position may be exposed to bodily fluids and there need to use universal precautions.
Essential Job Functions:
o Provide training/coaching/technical assistance for school-based RTI2-B Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III teams.
o Attend school-based RTI2-B Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III team meetings.
o Coach teams to implement the core features of RTI2-B with fidelity, i.e., teaching school-wide expectations, recognizing student for demonstrating appropriate behaviors, providing predictable consequences for students who are not demonstrating appropriate behaviors, using data to identify and solve problems, and monitoring student progress.
o Support implementation of Tier II and Tier III interventions and progress monitor.
o Provide referral services for the mental health needs of students and families.
o Provide training for principals, assistant principals, teachers, and other staff regarding school-wide positive behavior supports, classroom management, de-escalation strategies, function-based assessment, and intervention, etc.
o Conduct training as needed regarding functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and classroom management.
o Be available to principals for presentations on behavior and related areas at faculty meetings and on in-service days.
o Conduct classroom observations and provide suggestions for classroom intervention. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and use assessment data to create and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIP).
o Use recognized behavior analysis methods in assessment, implementation, and evaluation to support students in general education and special education settings.
o Design and interpret functional behavior analysis and multi-faceted behavior interventions.
o Use data to make informed recommendations regarding student behaviors.
o Model individual interventions for the classroom teachers.
o Support implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans and use data to make informed decisions.
o Partner with Special Education staff to coordinate transition of students between their zoned school and the Behavioral-Emotional Social Teaching (BEST) class.
Staff Relationship: Reports directly to the Coordinator of Behavioral Support.
Terms of Employment: Eleven (11) months, Part-Time Employment. Exempt.
