This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Health Department
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Example of Duties

Complete data collection, analysis and reporting for all Department programs, Design and implement queries to meet the information and management reporting requirements or the various program management staff. Maintain the Department Databases. Conduct daily quality control/assurance testing and adjustments to the database. Develop software protocols to move from patient billing information to the appropriate Federal agency. Oversee the continued development and implementation or software to Include the transition of data to other reporting and display tools, to Include dynamic selection and display on the Internet. Interact with State of Alaska (SOA), and Federal counterparts to ensure the MOA data and billing information meet all grant data reporting end billing requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD's Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In the case of a natural or manmade disaster AHD's employees may be called to engage in emergency operations responses and recovery.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience maintaining databases, developing ad-hoc queries, basic data analysis, and reformatting data to required protocols.
OR

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and five (5) years of experience maintaining databases, developing ad-hoc queries, basic data analysis, and reformatting data to required protocols.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and three (3) years of experience maintaining databases, developing ad-hoc queries, basic data analysis, and reformatting data to required protocols.

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the Department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

Military Service Interview Preference:
Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
