Position Title: 
Operations Specialist
Reports to: Operations Manager/Operations Officer
Classification: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, onsite 

Summary 
Day-to-day execution of operations through routine non lending product and services support.  This may include functions such as core accounts maintenance, processing, rebalancing, reconciliation and reporting.

​​​​​​This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished. There is little ambiguity in this job. It is very clear what needs to be done, and what the expected results are. This clarity will come either from the company's management, or from established professional disciplines and processes. The established procedures and processes must be followed very closely; there is little room or necessity to modify them. Much of the work can be accomplished by working at a steady, even pace. There is much consistency and familiarity from one day to the next. It is generally feasible to plan large blocks of work ahead of time. When work duties do change, there is ample foresight and time to prepare. The work is best accomplished working as an individual, without a great dependence on other people or "politics" for results. The work is helpful in nature; providing support and/or service to others in an environment free from competition. Interacting with customers requires a professional, formal manner where the focus is on completing the task pleasantly and correctly.

Essential Functions

  • Execution of all operational functions
  • Support Banking Center Managers, Personal Bankers and Treasury Management
  • Professionalism and confidentiality with customers, Resolves customer service issues promptly and effectively
  • Setup of products in the core operations.
  • New account bookings, cash management and online banking. 
  • Specifications for core maintenance. 
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of bank policies and procedures covering regulatory requirements including but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Expedited Funds Availability, Truth in Savings, Electronic Funds Transfer, FDIC insurance, Customer Privacy and Information Security; and,
  • Maintains a superior level of knowledge regarding all bank products, services and operating processing and ensures staff members are able to access and use available internal resource.  This includes but is not limited to consumer and business digital and cash management products.
  • Directs and/or assists in the performance of tasks when needed. 
  • Provides support on new procedures, policies, and new products by working with the Operations Officer and Manager, BCM’s, and Personal Bankers;
  • Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and company guidelines pertaining to non-lending functions;
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of procedures required for ATM/ITM settlement, night depository, vault cash, cash recycler, safe deposit, opening/closing procedures, ordering cash,  preparation of cash for shipment and receipt of cash shipment as applicable;
  • Ensures efficient and effective operation of the banking center utilizing the most current procedures and processes established for MRV banking centers and ensures staff members are trained on procedures and processes. 
  • Support the bank’s strong relationship banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service and superior product knowledge;
  • Adheres to MRV Banks’ standards, supporting a favorable environment for open communication and addresses concerns or problems in an open manner;
  • Maintains trustworthiness, character, professionalism, confidentiality and honesty in dealing with internal or external customers;
  • Maintains a positive, friendly atmosphere in the banking center and insures customers, prospective customers, MRV partners, vendors, community representatives and all others interacting with banking center staff receive exceptional customer service.
  • Maintains regular attendance in accordance with company policy with the ability to work a schedule that may include working overtime, nights, weekends and holidays;
  • May be asked to assist at various branches across MRV Bank’s footprint;
  • Completes and performs any other duties as assigned.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and cash recyclers and scanners.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Occasional lifting & bending related to document filing and maintaining branch supplies is required as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Two to three years of experience in banking operations
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Education and Experience

  • General knowledge of policies, plans, procedures, products and regulatory requirements for banking
  • Ability to work as part of a project team
