Working Location : Mount Laurel, NJ

Working Hours: Varies

Purpose of the Role:

Environmental Services Technicians are responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary hospital.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean environment in all areas of the facility, maintaining infection control standards, and providing customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Sanitation responsibilities include activities like mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, disinfecting, polishing, etc., as assigned by the Environmental Services Supervisor or Facility Services Manager.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing patient/resident rooms.
  • Maintaining the sanitation, cleanliness, and appearance of public areas such as hallways, restrooms, waiting rooms, meeting rooms, and staff areas.
  • Gathering soiled linens, sorting, processing, and redistributing linens throughout the facility according to procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning machines such as vacuums and floor scrubbers.
  • Knowledge of the operation of laundry and linen processing machines.
  • Uses cleaning chemicals according to the manufacturer’s directions for use, labeling, storage, and cleanup.
  • Removes damaged, torn, and stained linens from service, notifying the supervisor so appropriate inventories are maintained.
  • Uses laundry chemicals according to the manufacturer’s directions for use, labeling, storage, and cleanup.
  • Practices reasonable work safety procedures by wearing personal protective equipment, such as gloves, splash shields, and/or gowns, as directed and pertinent to OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
  • Properly segregates and safely handles waste and removes trash.
  • Restocks supplies including but not limited to gloves, hand soap in dispensers, towels in dispensers, toilet paper, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of equivalent work experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Must be organized, possess strong interpersonal skills, have a high attention to detail, a desire to share knowledge, and excellent time management skills.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the staff as well as the hospitalized or boarded animals
  • Assist co-workers in carrying out these duties daily
  • While handling multiple tasks at once with many interruptions and distractions
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Professional and courteous to clients and co-workers
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
