Job Description

The opportunity

As a team member of the Global Distribution Compliance Center of Expertise, you will enjoy working and collaborating with different compliance groups who support our different businesses insurance, retirement, wealth and asset management - and will gain a sound understanding of, and exposure to, the different financial products and services we distribute across the globe. You will be joining a highly motivated, diverse, international team that delivers compliance solutions for our global business initiatives. This role will provide advertising compliance reviews on behalf of Manulife Investment Management and its affiliated investment advisor to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and internal policies for our global businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve sales, marketing, and other communications materials for Manulife Investment Management institutional (and high net worth) business lines.
  • Provide regulatory advice on all aspects of Manulife Investment Managements businesses
  • Work with global colleagues to develop controls for mitigation of cross-border regulatory risks.
  • Collaborate with all areas of the organization to ensure compliance needs and business goals are met.
  • Assist team members with tasks and assignments as needed.
  • Provide compliance advice on our investment advisory practices, policies, and procedures
  • Stay up to date on relevant regulatory trends and assess their impact on our businesses and communicate and reflect any changes properly in the marketing compliance program to ensure MIM maintains a robust marketing compliance program.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures that enable the firm to remain in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with team members from the Global Distribution Compliance Center of Expertise, contributing to the development of a global best practice framework. Support harmonization efforts to enhance compliance best practices where applicable.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelors degree in business/finance or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the financial services industry / investment advisory industry
  • Experience reviewing a variety of investment adviser marketing materials is preferred but will be willing to train
  • Working knowledge of the investment advisor, asset management, and mutual fund businesses and corresponding matters related to the distribution of institutional and high net worth products is desirable.
  • Prior knowledge of the SECs marketing rule is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting and be able to thrive in an environment of collaboration, high work ethic, and constant learning, in a dynamic, deadline-driven work environment
  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to mediate differences
  • Ability to read regulations/legal documents a definite asset
  • Listen, understand different perspectives, and negotiate positive outcomes between stakeholders, influence and effect change in a timely manner

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$58,875.00 USD - $98,125.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
