Residential and community counseling services company in Brunswick, GA is hiring for Youth Mentors!

Shifts: (7a-7p & 7p-7a) (3x12s, rotating weekends)

The Youth Mentor serves as part of a cottage team, providing direct supervision of assigned children and the facility in a manner that creates a safe, therapeutic, and home-like environment. The Youth Mentor cares for children, ages 12-20, in a way which supports healing from the trauma that brought them into care, as well as, the learning of daily living skills and work skills to prepare each child for their best future.

Essential Functions of a Youth Mentor:

• Youth mentor provides for the Health and Safety of all children
• Youth mentor will enthusiastically support and participate in a wide range of activities with the children
• Youth mentor will create a homelike environment for the children
• Administrative and training duties

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Must hold a valid Georgia Driver’s License and be approved through the Georgia DHR Criminal Records Check.
• Must have the necessary stamina and temperament to work with youth who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.
• Able to maintain high level of confidentiality.
• Able to work well with and collaborate with all organizational staff, teachers, families, and caseworkers to meet the needs of children in care.
• Must be prepared to actively participate in a wide range of activities including but not limited to: basketball, swimming, fishing, volleyball, movies, team meetings, etc.
• Must be able to perform duties in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.) to casual and leisurely.
• Able to appropriately accept feedback through the supervision process thus displaying the willingness to learn, grow, and improve.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
